Chapter Eight - Tennessee Fan

Start from the beginning

"She likes riding on those windin' roads
The smell of sweet pine in the air
I took her 'bout as high as you could go, huh
You can still see Tuscaloosa from there
And all the girls back home say, 'How could you love him?'
All them boys probably hate me for takin' her from 'em
Lord knows her mom and daddy's jaw would drop
If they heard her singing every word of Rocky Top"

"Guess the joke's on Alabama 'cause they lost big this time
I got the number one pick, blonde hair, red lips
Brought her over to the other side
A little deep south Delta Gamma
Done found a Smoky Mountain man
Yeah, she was raised Roll Tide 'til the day she died
But ever since that night, she's been a Tennessee fan"

"Oh
Yeah, it's alright, let's just call it even
'Cause she's all mine
And she ain't ever leaving
And she's damn fine in orange every weekend
From now on
Yeah, she found home"

"Guess the joke's on Alabama 'cause they lost big this time
I got the number one pick, blonde hair, red lips
Brought her over to the other side
A little deep south Delta Gamma
Done found a Smoky Mountain man
Yeah, she was raised Roll Tide 'til the day she died
But ever since that night, she's been a Tennessee fan
Oh, she's been a Tennessee fan"

Megan's POV
When the song's over, I look into Morgan's beautiful blue eyes, finding him even more attractive than before. I lean towards him and kiss him on the lips.

Morgan sets his guitar down and puts his arms around my waist to deepen the kiss.

When we pull away, Morgan and I both smile.

"Why Alabama?" I ask with a smirk. Morgan shrugs.

"I don't know. It was Ern's idea, not mine."

"But why not Georgia?" I question.

"Well, it didn't really rhyme, you know?" Morgan replies. I laugh.

"Okay. Makes sense,"

Morgan's song gave me a great song idea and I grab my computer to type up the lyrics before they're gone.

Morgan watches me type some things and he smiles.

"Whatcha writin'?"

"A song. Your song gave me some inspiration," I reply. I don't look up from my computer as I keep typing. "And don't be looking. I don't want ya to see the song yet,"

"Alright, alright. I won't," Morgan says with a laugh. Morgan puts his hand on my arm. "Hey. You wanna go out to lunch?"

"Sure. That sounds great," I reply. Morgan smiles.

"Great. It's a date then,"

Morgan's POV
After lunch, I leave Megan in my studio alone to finish writing her song. I walk down to Hardy's studio and go inside, falling back onto the couch with a satisfied smile on my face.

"What's got you in such a good mood?" Ernest asks with a frown.

Ernest and Hardy were doing a write together today. Hardy and I both have album releases within a little under two months of each other and we've really trying to crunch down on getting all the songs done so Ernest has been helping both of us out more.

"Megan kissed me earlier when I sang Tennessee Fan to her," I say. Hardy and Ernest's eyes grow wide.

"Really?! She musta realized the song was about her then, right?" Hardy asks. I nod.
