"Hello! My name is Ava Post. I am here for my sister. Her name is April Post. Can you tell me where I can find her please?" I asked in a rush the nurse

"Room 35 second floor"

"Thank you!" I took Billie by the hand and dragged her with me. I insisted for her to come with me because I couldn't do this alone. If something bad really happened I don't know what I would have done on my own

We took the elevator and as soon as I found another nurse I asked the same thing

"She just woke up. Follow me" as soon as she said that I felt the biggest relief of my life.

She made a few steps down the hallway then she opened a door with butterflies and flowers on it. That was for sure designed for kids.

April was on the hospital bed and a couple wires and tubes were around her going all the way to heart monitors and other stuff.

As soon as she saw me she lighted up and a smile appeared on her face.

"Avaaa!" She screamed when I got next to her. I couldn't hug her. I was too afraid. But I took her hand in mine instead and held it tight.

"I'm gonna leave you alone now" the nurse announced and left the room

I sat on a chair next to the bed and so did Billie.

"What happened baby?" I asked her

"I-I don't know honestly. All I remember is being in class then I woke up in here" she was more pale than usual and her voice wasn't as full of joy as usual.

"Where are mom and dad?"

"They are a bit busy but they'll be here as soon as they can. Do you need anything in the meantime?"

She thought for as second then a smile appeared on her face "Taco Bell"

As soon as I heard it, I turned toward Billie who didn't even seem to notice my sister's words. She was too deep into her own thoughts

"Billie" she lifted her head to look at me

"Can you bring some Taco Bell, please?"

A sigh left her lips but she stood up and asked for our order. I decided to stay with April until she comes back. I wasn't feeling like going with her anyway. Maybe I should have sent her home but I realised the better option only after she was gone.

"Is Billie mad?" April asked as soon as Billie left

"What? No. She's just...tired." I trie to explain taken by surprise

"And why is she here?"

O my god. How do I explain this?

"Well...she happened to be around when dad called me and she drives faster. She offered to bring me here"

I don't know how much she believed me because she just nodded. We continued our conversations about random things, like our parents and how we would love to have a dog.

"A big order of tacos and burritos arrived!" Billie said with a smile on her face as soon as she came back. It seemed like she got back to her normal self. Like nothing happened.

"Billie, how did you decide to go vegan?" April asked while she was savouring a bean burrito that Billie recommended

"I've been vegetarian my whole life. One day, my family decided to go vegan so I just went with it"

I almost felt like I was third wheeling when Billie and April started their conversation about horses and climate change.

Everything was fine until we got interrupted by a nurse and someone I wish I thought about sooner
