"I'd be surprised if she was still here." Patrick grumbles. "If I talked to my girl that way in private – let alone public – I would have been slapped and she would have left." "Left?" Rene blinks a few times. "No!" He can't believe he took out his frustration and fear on Celine. What had she done wrong? Wanting to dance with her boyfriend after dancing with others? Wanting something together when she hadn't corrected him when he'd introduced her as a client, when she hadn't pushed in terms of touching him, stealing him away, even dancing with him all night. With his sons in tow, he rushes around the room asking for Celine. No one from the team has seen her, none of his family has, even Anne-Renee is worried since she planned to talk to Celine and perhaps dance with her. Rene finally heads to the Valet, panting as worry and guilt consume him. The valet looks at him, waits for him to catch his breath then clears his throat. "Would you like me to pull your car around, sir?""The girl I came with ... have you seen her?" Rene manages to get out. "She asked me to call a cab and left a while ago." "A ..." Rene scrubs his face, trying to hide his shame. He takes a slow breath. "Thank you." Anne-Renee comes out and stares at her ex-husband. She pulls him aside, away from the venue. "Do you want to explain what Jean-Pierre just told me?""Celine left." Rene murmurs, not sure what else to say. All he can see is the hurt look Celine gave him before she disappeared, the way her lips trembled, how she tried to hide what she was feeling.
