Krystal's POV
I let my boots break twigs and branches as I jumped from tree to tree like a monkey. I jumped to the highest part of a huge yellow Willow tree and looked over the horizon. My hair fanned and flew in accord with the wind, the sweet-smelling and comforting wind. It was sickening. Everything has been too sweet recently despite the harshness.
I was heading to another witch's domain despite not being a true witch myself. I wasn't afraid, no, in fact, I was confident in my abilities. Raquelia wouldn't send me here if she didn't trust me. However, it was me I didn't trust. It's safe to say that I've never had to deal with so many emotional dilemmas and confusion so I never had to worry about fighting. My only thoughts were always how to end everything quickly or have fun. I'd never gone into battle with raging emotions.
I was right. Love is a weakness.
«Too bad you're infected already,» Wynter giggled.
«And whose fault is that?» I said chidingly. She giggled even more. It was nice to see that she wasn't bothered at all by any of my problems. Yes, I'm being sarcastic.
«You know, this walking is pointless, we need a plan.» She cuts in before I could start recalling her betrayal.
«Yes, but what do we do? We don't know exactly where we are going.»
«How about your spirit dragon? It has to have a use, right?» a dragon I've never summoned before? How's that even possible? I only had the sword Liang gave me, but I never planned to use it because I was afraid it wouldn't answer me. I'm not the true queen after all. «Just try. We have to return to mate soon.» And that's the only thing she cares about right now.
"Hmm," I hummed. I stretched out my hand and clenched and unclenched my fingers. With an exhale, I closed my eyes and concentrated all my authority on the sword that now lives inside me. First, I pictured the garden where I stored it, under the freezing water of a waterfall. Then, I pushed the power into awakening the sword. The gems and the symbol of the witch lit up immediately, too easily.
I opened my eyes with a gasp. I expected that to take a lot out of me but I didn't even lose a percent of power. It was almost as if the sword was waiting to feel my presence.
I pinned my lips as I felt its eyes in the back of my head. I closed my eyes and another gasp escaped my lips. In the garden was the dragon I thought I'd die before I saw. It was awake and staring at me with its big blue eyes. I'd seen three dragon shifters since they were rare, but their beauty could not compare to the beauty and magnificence of a true ancient beast. It was hard to describe her because she was as white as snow, bearing no other color and covered in a white moon radiance. Her eyes shone the brightest, a pair of crystal clear ocean blue eyes holding the depth of oceans. Then the jewel in her head, just like Flykra but bigger and better.
She was beautiful.
The dragon covered its body… no, her body with her wings and lifted her head to look at me better. "How may I be of service to you, Your Highness?" Deep voice. The dragon was a male. Wow.
"Where can I find the winter witch of this realm?" I asked politely. His eyes were beautifully terrifying.
"Do you wish for me to take you there personally?" He asked, already rising to his feet. It wasn't a question, it was a request. Well then. I opened my eyes and waited patiently. Something jumped out of me and soon, I heard flaps of wings behind me. I closed my eyes and inhaled. The flaps got closer, and the wind from its flaps almost blew me aside. Sharp claws lifted me off the tree.
The wind beat against my skin gloriously, the flapping of his wings was like a lullaby. I listened and murmured a song and thought of Lynn the whole way. After flying for a while, my feet met with the ground again in a rough kiss. I looked up and saw him fly into the sky and return to my body in a blast of energy. I definitely felt that one.
"Cool," I murmured. I looked around the snow-covered mountains where I stood between. The weather was perfect and I was tempted to strip and play in the snow but that would be stupid and a waste of time.
I let the eyes of the dragon lead me to the castle. The castle was between the mountains, behind a magic glowing waterfall. I smiled at the beautiful big architecture of the castle and ran in easily. Security sucks here. Oh, there they are. The guards suddenly surrounded me and all pointed their arrows and weapons in high alert.
"Who are you? State your business," one ordered, poking me with his stick.
"That was rude," I said cheesily. I snatched his stick and flogged him with it. They screamed something in their native language and then fired their arrows. I ran inside to avoid killing them. Raquelia said to avoid killing as much as possible. "I was so nice and yet they shot at me," I whined. I walked into the throne room and made myself comfortable on the throne. See? Security sucks.
The door flew open and a haze of smoke in the form of a woman walked in. Every witch has her form and this one was hazy. Great for combat since her opponents would have a hard time touching her.
"Who are you? Why are you on my throne?" She asked calmly.
"That's no way to talk to a guest," I said smilingly, unwrapping a gum. She sneered.
"Do not test my patience, Girl. Who are you?" She snapped. I lifted one finger telling her to wait. I threw the gum into my mouth and savored the taste with small moans.
"Continue," I smiled, crossing my legs.
"Who sent you? You don't feel normal at all."
"I'm nobody but somebody, so yeah, I'm not normal. Any further questions?" I asked, dropping my legs. She stared at me like she was trying to freeze my head. "Don't bother, this is a hundred percent of coconut water," I said humorously, knocking my head. She laughed and came closer.
"No one has made me laugh for years. Welcome, dear." That's enough to make her laugh? That's silly. I stood up and dusted her throne so she'd sit down. The woman walked up to the throne and sat down.
"Sorry, I wasn't raised to respect people,"
"Understood. Now state your mission," she said briskly.
"My mistress said to get one thing called it from old or whatever. She said to ask you what it is."
"And why should I give it to you?" She suddenly asked angrily.
"Because if she didn't respect you, she would have taken it herself but she sent me here. I don't know what she needs it for, I'm just a messenger and deliverer so what do I need to do?"
"Who's your mistress?"
"I tell you and you die so I rather not. I have a party to attend so please make it fast." I said nonchalantly.
"And you confidently think you can take it?"
"You found me sitting on your throne, do you think you can stop me if I was sent here to just take it?" I asked with a bored look. She sighed.
"You are rude," trust me, this is the nicest I can be, "but you are right. You are strong, I can feel that. Still, it's my duty to protect what is mine—"
"You mean what you stole," I interjected, wishing I had popcorn. Her eyes twitched with annoyance. "So what do I need to do to take it without killing you? That's the nicest I can be,"
"How dare you?!!!" She roared. "You walk into my home and threaten me like you own me. Who do you think you are?!!!" I rolled my eyes and placed my hands on my hips. I tilted my head to the side and held her gaze, staring at her to intimidate her and it surprisingly worked. She cleared her throat and calmed down. "To get it, you must pass two tests. First defeat my champion in a battle to the dead,"
"Is he huge and dangerous?"
"He is the best in the land,"
A lazy smirk stretched on my lips, "I'm ready,"
