It was pretty late by the time my family finished setting up all of the tents and taking everything out of the car that we had packed away. So last night we just had dinner and then went to bed.
Our sleeping arrangements were supposed to be Chris and Dylan in their own tent and me, Cameron, West, the twins, and Ben, in the big tent we have. Sounds like a lot of kids in one tent — and it is — but the plus side is that the tent is huge, and we make due. My siblings and I have been in each other's space since we were born so being crowded isn't really new for us.
We have two air mattresses for our tent — one for the twins, and one for Ben and I — and then we usually bring up two cots: One for West and one for Cameron, who absolutely refuses to share a bed with one of his siblings, even if we are in our own sleeping bags. But that plan didn't work out so well for us because my idiot brothers forgot the cots, and three people per air mattress is a little tight. So Cam decided he was going to go sleep in the hammock outside and West is forced to share one of the air mattresses. Last night West shared with the twins, but I think tonight he's gonna be with Ben and I because from what I can gather the twins and our older brother all together made for not enough room, and it's a liability to pop with all of that weight. Seeing as Ben and I are a lot smaller than our twin brothers, it would make sense for West to bunk with us, but I still don't want to.
When we were camping, Chris and Dylan forced my brothers and I to get up no later than 8 o'clock so most of us were up by 7:30, but there were some really grumpy people (namely, Sam and West). Surprisingly, Cameron was actually pretty okay this morning. Of course, he's never in a good mood, but this morning he was content. And that's always a surprise when he has to spend time with our family.
Maybe I should try sleeping in the hammock?
My oldest brother informed us that after breakfast we were going to go down to a lake we all love. It's super warm outside today so the lake being cold was not a factor and Chris said that we'll have a sort of picnic lunch while we are there — of course, that earned him a lot of teasing from my other brothers who think picnics are like princess tea parties.
"Chris! What do you want me to carry?" I groaned, squinting my eyes and turning around only slightly to gauge my brother's reaction.
Right now we were heading down towards the lake and because we'd be there for a while, we needed a lot of supplies meaning that we had packed tons of bags and put our supplies in a huge pile and were now forced to take them on our walk to the lake.
"Maybe get the towels and sunscreen bags?" Chris suggested, coming over to me and placing a hand on my shoulder as we both looked at the pile of things.
"Do I have to?" I peered up at my older brother.
"Uh, yes."
I groaned again as Chris laughed and then walked away. Nonetheless, I did come forward and pull the huge towel bag onto my shoulder and attempt to put the sunscreen bag — which was smaller — into the same bag, but it wouldn't fit.
"It's heavy!" I yelled back at my older brother, pretending to struggle with lifting the bag.
I wasn't completely lying, the bag was pretty heavy due to the thousand towels that we were bringing, but I could have carried it down to the lake if I really wanted to. The thing was my brothers always comply with my wishes if I complain hard enough, especially when we're camping. If I really don't want to carry anything or help set up the tent or something like that I can usually convince my brothers that I can't do it, rather than won't do it. But with normal stuff I'm not that much of a brat to always get out of it, I was just already hot and didn't want to become even more hot carrying a huge bag.
