"So", Nat appeared in front of Maggie at the bar the next evening. "Skiving off work to fuck Steve? All I can say is that it had better of been worth it".

Maggie simply looked at her. "He literally wouldn't let me leave his bed unless it was to pee or have me bent over in the shower".

Nat looked around to check no one else was listening and took her friend to one side. "Look, I know you said you didn't wanna get caught up in his world? But yesterday and the night before? That's just the beginning - I hope
You're smart enough to try and keep the two separate, because trust me - I haven't managed to".

"You know me - of course I will". Maggie told her and looked at Nat. "Bucky told me you were pissed at him...I thought you guys were just casual?"

Her friend sighed and shook her head. "It's become more than that - to the point where I'm starting to become dependant on the shit he's on". Her face was filled with disappointment at herself. "I said the same as you, that I wouldn't get involved but with these guys? It's hard to - and I have to watch as other girls drape themselves over him act like I don't give a fuck, like everything is ok".

"But it's not". Maggie smiled pitifully. "He's coming over tonight to play some poker with Steve. Want me to talk to him?".

The red head snorted at this. "What's the use. Never got me anywhere in the past. The only thing he cares about is his dick and who's riding it. Whether it's me or just another groupie". A moment of realisation came over her. "Guess that's what I've become..."

Maggie gave her a hug. "Go home - I've got this tonight, plus I owe you for not being here when I should've been. You need some time off Nat. This place? It's not gonna fall if you're not here, ok?" Mirroring the words Steve had told her just a couple of days before.

"I shouldn't..." Nat started, but was irritable.

"If you don't get your ass out that door then I'm gonna throw it out". Maggie threatened lightly. "Now, take some whiskey, go to Buck's before he leaves to go to Steve's, and show him you're not some dumb ass groupie". Pushing the bottle into Nat's hands she steered her out of the bar. But her friends warning remained in her head for the rest of the night.

Steve was sat out by the pool the next morning when Maggie came out onto her balcony, seeing him and smirking as he stared at her. He signalled for her to slip the silk and lacy babydoll she wore off of her, watching as she teased him by pushing one strap down her arm.

"Why you up so early?" She questioned as he walked toward the guesthouse, stopping underneath the balcony.

"Buck brought Nat with him last night, and as a result? I've had no sleep thanks to them". He ran a hand through his hair. "Can I come hide out with you?"

"Your house, let yourself in". She smirked and disappeared inside so as she could come down and meet him. "Want me to make you some coffee or something to eat?"

He nodded. "That'd be nice. Thanks". Taking a seat at the kitchen table and stretching out. As she began to cook some breakfast, he watched her. The way she made coffee, the way she cracked the eggs into the pan, how she buttered his toast so he could eat while he was waiting.

This could be them.

This could be their life. The normality that he knew he so desperately needed .

"What?"

His daydream was interrupted by Maggie now frowning at him as he realised he was staring. "Sorry...just thinking". He told her. "You're perfect".

Shaking her head, she brought over the toast and placed it in front of him. "I'm really not - anyway start on this, the rest will be done soon".

"Thanks".

She brought over the bacon and eggs a short time, sitting herself down across from him and pouring herself some more coffee. "Do you know how Rocket is?".

He shrugged. "Called Tony yesterday but got nothing. He's still in rehab but that's all I know - guess it's a case of waiting to see how he is when he comes out and then getting back to the music".

"Would you rather be on tour again? She asked.

He shrugged. "I like the music, playing it, touring - but I also like having this. Being able to take some downtime and not wake up wondering what city I'm in". There was a pause, eyes flickering up to hers. "I like this...us".

Maggie sipped her coffee and then looked at him. He was being sincere again - a rare occurrence, but she knew that he'd probably never shown this side to any other girl.

"Yeah". She smiled, "me too".
