"Dementors" Camille bursted through the elevator door into the underground Harbour "it's dementors""Are you quite sure?" Sebastian stood up from the ground and stepped toward her
"Yes! Yes I am sure" She nodded frantically
"Do you know how to cast the Patronus charm?" Sebastian's concerned face confused her, she was expecting cheers and relief, instead, his eyes were uncertain
"I- I do, and you do too"
"Camille... I don't know how to cast it... I have never done it"
"Are- Are you sure they didn't teach you in defense against the dark arts?" Camille swallowed. Maybe he doesn't remember how he learned it, or with who... but he has done it in the past, his magic must remember in some way, there has to be some type of magical memory, he just needs to try, she thought
"I'm sure I would remember if I ever learned such a spell"
"Try it! Just... just try" she insisted
"But I don't know how!"
"Just try!" She blurted, drawing a deep breath she whispered "Please"
Sebastian looked deeply into her eyes and took a deep breath, he nodded
"Tell me the Incantation and wand movement" he reached into his inner pocket grasping his wand
She motioned with her wand for him to replicate,
"Expecto patronum" nothing, he raised his wand to motion again, but nothing.
"It's not working" his jaw tightened
"You are not trying" she snapped, her voice shakily rising, Desperation had flooded through her, Fuck. Fuck.
Sebastian didn't say anything, his eyes bored into her face, surprised by the sudden flow of emotions in her. Camille took a deep breath, she closed her eyes reinforcing the walls inside her mind, she couldn't let emotions take over at a time like this
"I am sorry" she murmured
"Show me" Sebastian took a step closer to her, his eyes piercing through hers, he wasn't mad by her sudden harshness
She closed her eyes again, the smell of the lake filled her lungs, so familiar... until Sebastian's scent reached the tip of her nose... old books, cedar. Camille grasped her wand from the inside of her sleeve. The aspen wood was warm against her palm.
She raised her wand, motioning the familiar swirl of the incantation. Inside her mind the memories of her beloved, who was standing right in front of her, but she couldn't bare to look at him, not when in his eyes she wasn't her beloved, no longer was she the light in his eyes, no longer did he look at her with love... and she couldn't stand it. She placed her left hand on her chest, the soft silk of her robes under her palm, the locket hidden behind them pressing against her skin.
"Think of the happiest memory you have ever experienced" she took a deep breath "the one that makes you relish with happiness, the one that you might feel like crying of joy, the one that fills your chest"
She thought of the day they first learned the spell and the revelation that they both had thought about each other when casting, she thought of the warmth of his embrace, her name dripping from his mouth like a song, his soft lips against hers. Her home, he was home, the only place she had felt that loved, and she could never be able to go back. She didn't have a home anymore, but it will live inside of Camille forever, Sebastian was her home and she will always remember him as such.
