Chapter 48: (don't look/the door) (this might be a bit weird..)

Zane Peirce POV.

I looked in all directions and only saw many bodies. Bloody corpses stacked on top of more bloody corpses in piles. In total there were five piles of bodies.

I looked down, we were standing on a glyph circle. One side had a rune that read 'death' and another that read 'life'.

The other symbols and marks I didn't know how to read. I didn't even know what language it was.

I move my eyes to Jasper. He was standing next to me, also trying to figure out probably, what he is currently looking at. Any person that saw this would scream their heads off in fear of the sight. I don't actually understand why people are scared of seeing a corpse since it's dead and can't even move, so why?

"Zane." Jasper grabbed my shoulder.

I turn to him, Jasper looked like he burned-out.
"What's wrong?" I ask.

"I think- I think I feel faint." He said, sounding like he was gagging.

I flinched when he said that. I came closer and pressed the back of my hand onto his forehead. His temperature was fine. Jasper didn't have a fever, at least. I sighed.

"Sit down." I told him.

Jasper nodded and slowly got down. I could tell he shivered when he suddenly touched the cold floor.

What should I do? I can't just leave him here. I sigh before lifting my hand up. I made a barrier of water around Jasper.

Afterwards, I turn back to the piles. Wait, there was something wrong again. The ground was shaking and I could hear growling.

I look up, and I saw it. A Sykee.

The beast then lunged forward at me with it's claws out. Blood was trailing down it's mouth as it growled when I reached the ground.

My eyes widened as I stepped back. I couldn't fight with my bow in this setting. I have to use my sword in this situation. I haven't really used my ninjato in a while too.

I took the weapon out of my ring and unsheathed it. It's black metal shined, even in the almost pitch black darkness.

I held it up while shifting to a stance. I was in front of Jasper to protect him. The Sykee was coming closer to me and I got myself ready to fight, I don't care if I kill it in the process. S--t just got serious.

Before I could even react, the Sykee lunged forward and attacked.

I stepped back in a bit of a panic and almost broke the barrier protecting Jasper.

"Zane, I'll be fine, just let me help." He argued.

"No way, I'm not risking your life." I say to him.

He grunted before going silent. I turn to him and I saw that Jasper had passed out. Damn it!

I gritted my teeth as I charged forward and whipped my sword at the beast. It made a cut and the creature's side bled out.

I formed a bolt of electricity in my fingers before zapping the open wound. I only remembered now that the cave was layered with water.

The sparks went all over the surface as the lightning electrocuted the Sykee. I removed the water and the sounds of the zapping stopped.

The Sykee fell to the floor, dead. There was smoke coming from it's burnt ot still burning fur.

I sighed before going back to Jasper. He was still unconscious and wasn't responding when I tried to shake him awake.
