Mark is a vampire and Ethan is human. There's just one problem though humans and vampires can't be together.
_____________
Mark sat in the back of the lecture by himself. He wasn't listening to what the teacher had to say. This wasn't even one of his classes, but there's someone here that just draws in Mark's attention. Ethan Nestor.
He was irresistible to Mark. But he never talked to him. He couldn't bring himself to. He wanted to so badly but he can't take the pain of them not being able to be together. There's a rule in the vampire world and it's that humans and vampires can never be together. Why? Because there was once a vampire that fell for a human and they let them know their secret. Then they exposed vampires to the public which then caused a massive killing of vampires. That was probably around 100 years ago, so in todays time no one really thinks about vampires anymore. They're more like a fairy tail now.
Ethan didn't know who Mark was. He never knew he was watching him. He just went to class and on about his day. Every now and then he'd feel like he was getting paranoid because he'd see shadows from the corner of his eyes. But when he went to look there was nothing there. Little did he know Mark was almost always watching him.
As the lecture ended and the room began to clear, Mark pretended to look busy while waiting for Ethan to leave the room. Once he did Mark started to follow behind him from a distance.
Mark knew where Ethan was going now. He stops at this small coffee shop everyday to get a coffee after class. Then Ethan usually goes back to his place to get his dog, then he walks him for an hour. Mark never thought it was creepy to know Ethan's routine. It was just something he knew.
Once Ethan entered the coffee shop, Mark waited a moment before entering. When Mark went in he looked around and didn't see Ethan anywhere.
"Are you following me?" Ethan asked from behind Mark.
"What? No of course not." Mark chuckled nervously.
"Are you sure? Because I see you here everyday and you never order anything." Ethan questioned.
" Why should I defend myself when you hid behind this door to jump out and question me? But if you're so curious a friend of mine works here and I like to stop by and talk to them." Mark responded.
"Oh sorry I guess I've just been paranoid, let me buy you a coffee to make it up to you?" Ethan asked.
"No thanks, I should probably get going. Maybe another time?" Mark said.
"Sure, here's my number." Ethan said while writing it down on a napkin.
Mark quickly left the coffee shop with a smile. Luckily his lie of having a friend that works there worked. And Ethan didn't notice he left as soon as he got there.
Mark was feeling thirsty but not for coffee. He made his way home walking the shadows trying to avoid the sun. Not that it would kill him, it just hurts a little bit more of an annoyance.
Once he reached his place he headed inside where he was greeted by two of his friends who also happened to be vampires. Bob and Wayde.
"Were you following that Ethan guy again?" Bob asked.
"No I was just uhh walking around looking for something to eat." Mark said.
"You know the rules Mark humans and vampires can't be together." Wayde reminded.
"I know I know you guys have reminded me of the rules 100 times by now." Mark stated.
"We just don't want to see you get hurt. You know the punishment is death if he ever finds out your secret. If you love him you need to let him go before he gets hurt." Bob said.
