Double Update: Part 1 of 2
two months later
"Daepyonim! You ready to head over to the airport?" Monday barged into Yeji's office with her luggage waiting by the van downstairs.
"Almost, we don't leave for another fifteen minutes and I'll be down in ten. Thank you, Monday." Yeji smiled at her assistant. Sighing and looking back at the computer screen as soon as she was gone. She had to review everything for all of her debuting artists. She was right in the middle of reviewing Lia's first mini album since her debut two months ago.
Every song written by her and every song was so good, title track worthy even. She and Yuna make a perfect duo.
From her music is the only time she gets to hear Lia's voice, she hasn't even contacted her since that night. Everything they had was gone, homeless. They hid from the media, claiming that as the wedding got closer, they were getting busier and didn't have time for as much publicity.
"I miss you." Yeji whimpered, listening to the ballad of the album, also the last song. She looked at the jacket album preview as she did so and missed her even more. Lia was blonde now and all Yeji wanted to do was tell her how much the color suited her. But Lia seems to put more effort into avoiding Yeji than into her actual career. And she's already working 24/7 for her career.
She stared at her own ring and then back at Lia's ringed finger in the pictures. Yeji hoped that it meant they were just taking a break. She hoped that Lia still loved her, and that's why she's kept the ring on.
"Uh, daepyonim?" Monday came in. It was different from before. Yeji would always have her door closed and when her assistant was out running errands, even she would have to knock on the closed door. But Yeji leaves the door open. People think it's because has a bigger heart due to her relationship with Lia, but no. She still hates people coming into her space, but she leaves the door open in case Lia wants to swing by.
Sometimes, something as little as a closed door can drive someone away.
Something about closed doors is intimidating to people. So, Yeji always leaves it open. For Lia, she leaves it open.
"Yes, Monday-nim?" Yeji finally responded, putting the papers away and turning off the music, making sure to send Yuna the email of approval on the whole project.
"I found this by the door..." Monday came in and put a congratulatory goodie basket on Yeji's desk.
Yeji frowned, she sent this to Lia this morning. She sends them every week, but Lia always sends them back. There was a delay today, she hadn't sent back as quickly as usual, so Yeji thought that Lia finally accepted it, but no.
"Would you like me to deliver it again?" Monday offered.
"Ah- no. It's ok. I'll just try again next week-" Yeji looked into the basket and noticed that the three packs of rice crackers were gone and so were the chips. "Damn."
"Well, certainly, on this trip, you guys can talk, right?"
"I don't know. But I won't push anything. I'm ready, is Lia already down there?"
"She is! I saw her, she told me about the basket..."
"Oh... well let's go then."
Yeji walked just a little faster in hopes of catching Lia before she hides away in her van, which was separate from Yeji's. But she wasn't fast enough, Lia was already cozy in her van, and there wasn't enough time for them to talk now.
They were collectively headed to New York. Yeji is going to star on a bunch of reality shows and Lia is going to sing the national anthem at the MetLife Stadium for the game of New York Giants against the New England Patriots, as well as promote her upcoming mini-album which has an English pre-release.
