Lana was at college, she had to get her GED because she'd never had the chance to graduate high school and she wanted to have something to do. She lived with Michelle, in Alabama. She still thought about Kristy especially when she was bored in class. The teacher was standing in front of the class talking about nothing, so it seemed.
Lana just looked down at the notes she was writing and thought about Kristy. She wondered where she was.
Lana missed her so much.
She was so far away from the rest of the world. There was a hole inside Lana, where Kristy used to be. All Lana wanted was some peace from the world.
She just wanted to get away from herself. It wasn't working.
Lana laid her head down on the table in front of her. She quickly fell asleep.
She began to dream, she saw a white light surround a tombstone.
Lana walked up to the stone. Kristy's name was printed on the tombstone in bold, black lettering. Lana felt the tombstone, the white light faded into black. The tombstone felt wet.
Lana looked at her hand, it was red. Blood was all over the tombstone. Then Lana heard her name being called it sounded like Kristy calling her name.
"Lana! Lana, wake up!" Kristy called to Lana. Lana woke up and looked around the room, it was empty. Lana looked to her right and saw her friend, Kasha, still sitting there. Lana stood up and stretched her arms out.
"That was so boring," Lana said to Kasha.
"You're telling me," Kasha smiled. Kasha stood up and stretched, her arms were so long. She was really tall. Her dark skin looked shiny in the light from the ceiling.
Kasha pushed her long dark brown hair back with her hands. She turned away from Lana and walked down the aisle. Lana followed. Both Lana and Kasha walked out of the class room and down the long hall together. Lana stopped at the bathroom door and went in, Kasha went in behind her.
Kasha stopped at the mirror to look at herself. She wanted to put on more makeup. She sat her purse on the counter and started digging inside.
Lana walked over and stood beside Kasha. Lana watched her put on the makeup.
She sighed.
"What's up with you?" Kasha asked.
"Nothing, I'm just a little depressed," Lana said.
"I'm sorry. Why are you depressed? Tell me," Kasha said, trying to be sympathetic.
"I lost my best friend. She died," Lana started to tear up.
Kasha stopped putting on her makeup and turned to Lana, she hugged her.
"I'm so sorry. I'm here for you okay. If you ever need anything, and I mean anything," Kasha said. She let go of Lana and went back to putting on makeup. Lana looked at herself in the mirror. She knew she looked different. Her hair was longer and she looked like she hadn't slept in a few years. Lana walked over to a stall and went in. She closed and locked the door behind her.
She sat down on the toilet and started to cry, she wanted Kristy back so bad. She didn't even care about anyone but Kristy right now.
