Jake woke up in the same bed he was in earlier. He was confused, since he had fallen asleep on a couch. He looked around and the room was pretty much the exact same as it was when he first woke up. He sat up and felt something draped across his chest loosely. He looked down and it was an arm. He paused and looked beside him. On the bed directly next to Jake, with their arm across his chest, was the blue haired Hailey. His heart rated accelerated as he was about to jump out of the bed. As he did so, he shot up and fell face first onto the floor. He grunted in pain as he opened his eyes and got up. He was at the base of the couch he had fallen asleep on. He took a deep breath, relieved as he realized it was a dream. He stood their, dazed for a few moments before hearing the sound of a door open. He turned to where he heard the sound and saw Hailey walk out of her bedroom, looking incredibly tired. "What happened, Jake?" she asked body sort of slumping. He looked at her, then out the window, seeing that it was pitch black outside. "Oh, I'm sorry." He said, looking back at her. "I just fell and hit my head." she sighed. "Are you okay?" He nodded. She turned around and went back into her room. "goodnight, Jake." She called behind her as the door shut and Jake was left standing their in the dark, confused and exhausted from his odd dream. He laid down on the couch, properly this time, and went to sleep, trying to block it out of his mind
Trevor sped down the road, lights blaring, following close behind another police vehicle. He was dispatched to the scene of an apparent explosion and was making his way over as fast as he could. First responders were already on scene and they had put out the fire, but he recognized the address and continued to drive. He turned into a small neighborhood. Almost immediately, he saw a house smoldering and charred. He pulled his car over in front of the house and got out, firearm secured in his holster. He approached one of the firemen. "Hello. Detective Trevor Dalton. Here to investigate the origin of the explosion. What's the report?" The fireman passed him a clipboard. He read through the report quickly and thoroughly. He passed it back. "Thank you." He hurried towards the building after confirming that the fire was out and the smoke had dispersed. He entered the building through the front door, which looked like it had been blown off the hinges. He quickly searched every room, looking for a specific item. He opened a drawer of a nightstand next to a burnt bed. Inside, he found a certificate. He recognized it as a certificate you receive for graduating from the police academy in their city. He read through the entire certificate until he found the name. Jake Sterling. He closed the drawer and took a deep breath. He exited the building after having searched the entire thing. There was nothing that he saw that looked suspicious. He stepped outside onto the sidewalk and called Jake. It rang over, and over, until it went to voicemail. He sighed and put his phone in his pocket and crossed his arms. He was slightly panicked at the moment, not having any idea where Jake was. As he thought, Captain Trill came over to him. "Detective. Where's lieutenant Sterling?" Trevor turned to face him. "I have no idea sir. I can't get a hold of him." Captain Trill thought for a moment. "His friend, Hailey, I believe she might know where he is." Trevor stood up straight. "Your right. Thank you sir." Trevor bolted towards his car and quickly got in. He drove off and then realized he had no idea where he was going. He cursed his impulsive attitude as he pulled over and slumped in his seat.
Jake woke up the next morning to a blinding light. He squinted and partially covered his eyes with a hand. When his eyes adjusted, he saw it was about mid day. Had he really slept for that long? He stood up and stretched his arms. As he sat back down, he heard a door down the hallway open. He turned to peer down the hallway and saw Hailey stepping out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body. She closed the door and turned around. She saw Jake staring at her and she paused. Her cheeks got slightly red as she said "Oh, good morning Jake." he looked away in embarrassment. "Good morning Hailey." After a few seconds of awkward silence, Hailey rushed into her room and closed the door. Jake's face was bright red from embarrassment as he dropped his head into his hands. He looked at his phone after regaining his composure and saw he had missed calls from Trevor. He quickly decided to call him back. Trevor picked up after the second ring "Lieutenant? Where are you? Are you safe?" He heard Trevor sputter out. "Woah, Trevor, calm down. What happened?" Jake said, an uneasy feeling rising. He heard Trevor take a deep breath before announcing "A bomb exploded inside your house and set it on fire. The whole building is destroyed." Jake wasn't quite sure he heard Trevor correctly. He sat there, confused and puzzled. Suddenly, the realization hit him like a brick. "Lieutenant? Hello? Lieutenant are you there?" Trevor asked. Jake hung up. He grabbed his holstered gun from a table, threw on his jacket and shoes, and as he was about to open the door and leave, "Jake?" Hailey asked, standing behind him. Jake turned around and looked at her. She was standing a few feet behind him, hair still damp, wearing a crop top and black leggings. "Hailey, an emergency came up. I have to go." He told her, a serious tone in his voice. As she opened her mouth to say something, Jake opened the door, stepped outside, closed it and started running. Hailey opened the door to chase after him, but Jake was already half way down the block. Hailey sighed and just watched him run further away.
