When Bella had told Willow that Edward was sitting out of the fight to be with her, Willow didn't really know how to react. There was no way the small red headed girl would ever ask Jasper to sit out of the fight or Koda or Paul for that matter. Their family needed them and that's what mattered, Willow's anxiety would just have to spike during the battle.
The plan was set in stone now.
Willow and Bella would lead a path with their scents the night before. While Bella and Edward headed to the mountain side Willow would be on the Rez, staying the night at Pauls. The morning of the fight Willow is supposed to put on Bella's sweatshirt and her own jacket, she was going to freshen their scents on the path leading to the battlefield.
After a long debate, the decision had been made that Willow would stay close a short distance off in a protective bubble made by Koda. No one would be able to see let alone smell her. As long as she stayed inside she would be invisible, as if she was never there. Neither Jasper or Paul were happy about the decision but after Willow explained that the risk of her going anywhere else put Charlie in danger, the boys decided that they couldn't win this argument.
"Hey. You guys want a sandwich?" Charlie asked as the two girls walked into the house just as Alice pulled out.
"No I'm good." Bella answered as she moved to put her bag down.
"I'll take one." Willow piped as she moved to the fridge to grab a coke out of the fridge. She swiftly moved by Bella who was leaning against the counter to the small dinner table to watch as her Uncle made sandwiches.
"Well the sister... I like." Charlie stated and gave Bella a glance, Willow knew that her uncle would never say it to his daughter but he hated Edward, he was probably the only Cullen that Charlie hated.
"Alice. Yeah, she's great." Bella commented as she moved to the sink, rinsing the dishes off before she placed them in the dishwasher. Willow sipped on her coke and turned her attention to the unanswered texts in her inbox.
An unknown number had been texting her every hour for the past day and even though she wanted to ignore it like Jasper had told her, it was getting on her nerves. Like now as Charlie handed her the ham sandwich on a paper plate her phone buzzed again.
Hello? Willow if this is still your number will you at least answer?
"Hey, dad. I was wondering, why didn't you get remarried after mom.?" Bella's question made Willow put her phone down and watch the exchange that was about to take place between the two in front of her.
"I don't know.." Charlie shrugged as he worked on his own sandwich. "Guess I still haven't found the right gal. Why?" He turned his head to look at his daughter who shrugged. Willow shook her head as she took a bite of her sandwich, mentally complaining about the way they acted like each other.
"I don't know. I thought you just... Maybe you gave up on the whole institution of it. Of marriage. But do you think there's any value in it?" Bella closed the dishwasher and leaned against the counter. Willow knew what this was about, Bella had told her all about Edwards proposal and how she kept saying no, but Willow knew her cousin well and knew she would say yes at some point.
