"She looks gorgeous right? As always" Maama said as she threw Nabeela a weird glance with a smile on her lips but her eyes said something different.

Nabeela shrugged before she played with the napkin on the plate in front of her.

I smiled back at Maama before we started a conversation on the upcoming Matriculation in school.

A server appeared from Maama's side and he started serving us drinks from the tray.

Maama picked one and I picked one next before Nabeela did the same.

I took a sip of the tropical juice before I and Maama continued our conversation.

"Yes I heard about that too-..." I halted my words when I felt a cold substance running from my chest down to the rest of my body

I flinched with a gasp, quickly moving away from the drink thrown at me, I turned to Nabeela who had an almost empty glass of drink in her hands.

She had the audacity to have a sly smile on her face as she drank the rest of the drink in her cup before muttering an "ooops."

Maama was quick to stand up "Nabeela what the hell?!"

That gained a bit of attention.

I almost groaned out.

"Cmon Maama, don't be dramatic, I'm just a bit clumsy" she said with a roll of her eyes.

Maama hissed and she ignored her before holding my arm "Manal let's go."

I stood up and we walked towards the restroom.

"Thank God the dress is black so the stain won't show, it'll just be wet" she said as she handed me some wet tissues when we entered.

I nodded, genuinely upset as I moved the damp veil away and I started to wipe my sticky chest.

Everything was just sinking in now, that was so intentional and she didn't even try to hide it.

Why on earth would she do that to me? What have I ever done to her?

I used the rest of the tissues to gently wipe the top of the dress, I let my hand run through the water from the faucet in the sink before using my wet palms to clean the lower part of the fabric as well as my veil.

When I looked a little bit more presentable I sighed.

The wet stains were very much visible on the dress.

Maama probably saw the upset look on my face because she gave me a hug.

"I'm sorry, don't be upset, you still look as beautiful as you did when you walked in, some little wet patches shouldn't ruin your night."

They shouldn't but they did! It wasn't even the dress that was making me upset, it's how Nabeela did that unprovoked.

I smiled in gratitude to Maama as she helped me dump the wet tissues in the trash as I fixed my veil to its original position.

"I'm sorry about Nabeela, I won't lie to because I can see you're a good person but Nabeela doesn't like you that much, so try to distance yourself from her as much as you can" she said as she turned to me.

I could tell Nabeela didn't like me obviously, but hearing it from someone else just made me more confused.

"But what did I ever do to her? I could count the amount of words that we've said to each other, we don't even talk" I said to Maama with a frown as I leaned my back against the sink.

Maama nodded "I know that...but...ugh, I might as well just say it...she feels threatened with your relationship with Khalifa."

"Wani Khalifa? Wai Ya Khalifa? But there's nothing going on between us, and besides he talks to like a thousands of other girls, why doesn't she show the same attitude to all of them."

"Khalifa is a terrible player, we all know that, but he and Nabeela had always had a thing, since secondary school, I, Amna and Nabeela, we met there, Ya Khalifa was three classes ahead of us, so even though they've never been officially together they have this situation for so long that everyone knows of

So she doesn't feel threatened by the other girls because she stupidly believes he'll always come back to her, but with you she believes it's different, with living in the same house and seeing each other everyday you can never know what may happen, so she sees you as a threat, plus have you seen you? even I go fear if my man is in the same house with you" she tried to joke at the end to ease the tension but It wasn't working, I was really upset.

I let out a sigh "she has nothing to worry about, there's nothing going on."

"Then you have to make her believe that, or else Nabeela will keep pulling stunts like this, she turns unhinged when she's jealous" Maama said as she pushed herself off the wall before she motioned we go back to the party which was getting louder. We walked out of the bathroom.

How on earth do I make her believe there's nothing going on when there's really nothing going on??

Ugh! I don't need another problem to my already full box of stress abeg.

I had to deal with school, Zara at home, the Alim/ Ya Muhammad issue which I was trying so hard to push at the back of my head and now this? I need to catch a break.

My head shot up when I heard a familiar voice.

Speak of the devil and the devil appears.

Ya Khalifa.

I looked at my phone and it was 7:50, so why is he here?

He was standing in a group with three guys I didn't know, Amna, Sadiya and Nabeela.

When we got close enough to them Maama spoke the words in my head "what are you doing here?"

"Something didn't go as planned so we decided to crash the party!" He said as he draped his arm around the shoulder of the guy next to him.

His eyes turned to me and his smile flattered.

He moved away from his friend and he walked to me  "waya bata ma Manal dina rai?" He said as he draped his arm around me in a side hug.
(Who made my Manal upset?)

My heart beat increased as my gaze immediately turned to Nabeela who was staring directly at me looking like she was 5 seconds away from shooting me dead.

Maama who was directly next to me moved closer to whisper in my ear "shit."

Shit indeed.

As if he knew what was going on and he wanted to add fuel to the fire he moved closer to whisper to me "are you ok?"

So much for making her believe there was nothing going on.
