Carlos POV

After having brought Boone into our company, we just had to wait for the courier to finish her job.

After 2 days of not returning, I was tempted to locate her until I heard loud sounds of rockets launching in the distance. I look towards the place where the locals spoke about ghouls gathering in that place and one old man saying about some 'communism' and red. What is communism anyway?

Anyhow, to my relief, she has returned though with some of her clothes and armour scratched; possibly whatever she encountered there, she dealt with it along with that mechanised flying eye bot (Ede). While I am a bit uneasy about that thing, my companion from my HUD assures me of my worries about it. As I came to greet her along with Boone, to my surprise, somehow Boone and Jessica (Courier 6) developed a bit of friendship in mere seconds after I introduced them to each other.

After some discussion, I asked how her job was doing and why she arrived two days late. There, she explained that the situation at the REPCONN test site, as it was called, was that rumours about amassing ghouls were spotted in that area. This raised concerns among the citizens of Novac, who wanted to scope the area if it was true; however, they have no men or women to spare to look at after a Legion raiding party was spotted nearby. So that is where Jessica came in, in exchange for acquiring the person who shot at her. Jessica takes EDE towards the test site after encountering mutants called ghouls outside and inside the facility. To my surprise, they were ghouls who retained their sanity. I am impressed by how long they managed to stay sane after all these centuries. As I heard her journey throughout the facility, I was stunned a bit and applauded at her, and I heard a respectful nod from Boone when she handled herself against the nightkin, but she denied my applause while her face reddens in embarrassment. Despite her small body, she manages to defeat all the nightkins in the basement with her wits, agility, and expertise with her weapon. A worthy feat for a human herself. Though she did not pull this through without the help of EDE, it's better if I accompany her for a high chance of success and less risk of her dying.

"And here we are, and I need a break!! Seriously, all that stuff makes me tired!" She exclaimed as she sighed in tiredness.

"You will; you need a good rest. Excellent job out there. And here, take this and go upstairs and take a rest." I spoke while gently tapping my finger at her shoulder while controlling my reflexes not to break her bones, while I gave her the key to her room to rest in. She looked at me and smiled as she walked tiredly to the door of the hotel upstairs.

Boone just stood there silently as he observed his surroundings, as if an attack would pounce on him at any moment. I notice this behaviour of his; does he expect something bad to happen or what? "Boone, are you alright?" I asked.

This woke up his stupor, and he looked at me in the eye before glancing away from it. "I am fine just observing the surroundings," he replied in a stoic and cold voice.

I raised my eyebrow, but I didn't pester him further; we just stood there in silence before Boone departed somewhere. When it got dark, I went to patrol the outside perimeter of Novac, deterring any wild life and Legion raiding parties from raiding this humble town until sunrise.

As morning came, so far there have been no disturbances or any particular things that happened that night, which makes me sigh sadly.

"Well, I expected much. Hopefully they were Legion Parties to kill with my blade, so far none. (Sigh.) I missed those days." I muttered as I went back towards Novac. As I arrived there, Jessica and Boone were already waiting for me.

"O, hello, big guy!! Where were you!? We have breakfast this morning!! Sadly, we have eaten so much that we forgot to leave something for you!!." Jessica shouted as she sheepishly glanced sideways. Boone only responded with grunts.
