Kenma also heard what Aiko said.

"Miyoko, I-I'm sorry you had to hear that. D-Do you want me to-"

"Do I want you to what?" the sweet smile on her face scared Kenma, "please don't bother yourself with this, Kenny. I don't fight with pigs."

Tetsuro and Aiko both heard it.

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?" Aiko was angry.

"Do you need something?" She politely asked Aiko.

"Who did you just call a pig?" She asked and Miyoko directly looked at Tetsuro, expecting him to shut his girlfriend up before she put the 'fun' in Aiko's funeral.

"I didn't mean to offend you..." she said before turning around to leave. She stopped herself from saying anything further, she really, really tried.

"But if it fits, it sits".

Aiko literally lunged at Miyoko who was walking away and if it weren't for Kenma in the way, she wouldn't caught a fistful of her hair.

Aiko had to stop because a boulder liker person barricaded her from Miyoko. "Tetsu, why is your girlfriend so violent?", Koutaro looked at Tetsuro.

"Tell your dumb sister that!" Aiko was spitting fumes by then.

"Hey, you need to stop being so spiteful", Koutaro said, "both of you need to talk it out"

"And who might you be? Are you just as dumb as your sist- OWWWWWW!"

Miyoko pulled her backwards to the ground by her hair, "I don't care if you talk out of your ass to me or to anyone else you want to, but if you ever talk shit to that ray of sunshine, I'll rip your scalp out".

"MIYOKO!" Tetsuro finally interjected when he realised how bad it had gotten.

"Don't make me do things I normally don't, I haven't had enough coffee today. Take this toddler and keep Kou's name out of her mouth or I'm ripping both of your eyes out." She let go of Aiko and led Koutaro away. Kenma had never seen her react to something like this. He had never seen her in a situation where she got so defensive of him. Kenma had newfound respect for her.

"She causes trouble everywhere" was all Kenma said to Tetsuro before leaving the scene, clearly aimed at his girlfriend.

"Tetsu! All your so-called friends are so rude. Why are you even friends with them in the first place? Don't you realise how toxic they are? Look at the way Miyoko spoke to you, I'm glad you stopped hanging out with her. I never liked her or Kenma in the first place."

And that's when Tetsuro realised how much he'd fucked up. He realised he was so engrossed in her toxicity that he didn't even see her isolating him from all his friends. He was certain of it when he looked at Aiko's face.

'Fuck, this is not what I wanted to find out.'

"Yoko chan..." Oikawa was worried for her.

"I'm sorry about that" she sincerely apologized "but nobody gets to talk to Kou like that. I don't regret it".

"I understand. My practice match is about to begin, so... come cheer for me?"

"Of course, I will! I know you'll play well".

Tetsuro hated every second of the camp. He couldn't focus on a single match. He'd either think of ways to leave Aiko or watch Miyoko being wholesome with Oikawa, Kenma and Bokuto. He remember being a part of that and he loved every second of it.

"TETSUROOO!"

He broke out of his reverie only to be hit by a ball in the head. "Ah, shit." He winced in pain and embarrassment as his coach told him off. Kenma enjoyed it more than he should have.

Tetsuro missed Miyoko. A lot. She'd always analyse their games and told them if they could improve on something. The whole team missed having her around.

"Miyoko chan!" Iwaizumi was very fond of her "it's so nice to see you here!"

"It's lovely to see you too!" She loved Iwaizumi.

"Say, why are you still with him? You're way out of his league" he ruffled Oikawa's hair.

"Oh, stop. He's an absolute cutie!" She smiled at him.

Oikawa didn't like how everyone thought she was out of his league. It made him question a lot of things about himself and the result of it wasn't good. As much as she was okay with his fangirls surrounding him, hearing all that made him question if she didn't care because she knew she was way out of his league.

He pondered over it so much that it consumed him. And every time he heard it, it just made him angry.

"Is everything alright?" She held his hand as they walked down the streets of Tokyo.

"Yeah." He kept his answers minimal.

"I don't mean to overstep but please tell m-"

"Then don't" he said and she stopped in her tracks. "Are you alright?"

"Miyoko, don't act dumb. You know what this is about."

"Did Aiko bother you? Did I do something to upset you?" She was genuinely worried. She knew he was troubled as soon as he heard her full name. He always called her Yoko chan.

"I know that look" he scoffed "I don't need your pity."

"About what? What is going on?"

"I know you're way out of my league and I can't hear the end of it. But when I see you pity me for it, it's terrible."

Miyoko couldn't find words to put together. "What in the world are you going on about?" Her eyebrows furrowed, partly in confusion, partly in anger.

"Are you stupid?"

"Wow, now you think I'm stupid too."

"Okay, I need you to listen to me" she sat him on the nearest bench she could find and held his face, "people will keep saying shit, to your face and behind your back. If you don't accept that you're worthy of your partner, no matter who it is, you will always doubt yourself. Please do not let others enable that in your head. I'm not out of anyone's league and I know that you only deserve the best because you work hard for everything and you don't take things for granted. I love that about you and everything else that you do for me. You know they're just teasing you. So please, next time someone brings up that running joke again I don't want you to be bothered because it's simply not true."

That really made Oikawa feel terrible. "I'm sorry"

"Don't be. When I saw all those girls around you, I thought you were out of my league too. It's only natural but please don't let it occupy any more space in your head than it should. It's useless banter."

"Thank you, I appreciate it." He gave her a closed-eye smile.

Miyoko knew that smile very well. She hadn't convinced him and she knew someone who was just as stubborn and ruined it all.
