"Wow, you actually did it" Doc Daiki slowly walked towards me with his both his hands in his coat pockets. "Great job, didn't think you had it in you"
"Neither did I" I gave him a genuine smile, still lost in thought about my recent gained capability. I've never once tried to go out of my way to get what I want since I found it as too much work and I was perfectly contented with whatever happens.
but just now, making them think they have the upper hand when in reality, they were being played.. it's intoxicating.
...
"You would never believe what happened today, Light" I opened the warehouse doors and slowly paced around. "you're asleep, huh" I looked over at his bed, he was curled up into a ball, sleeping soundly.
"How pretty" I stroked his hair, moving it out of the way of his face. I noticed his skin looked a little pale and his lips had a faint color of purple. "Light..?" I pressed my hand against his forehead, trying to feel his body temperature.
He's burning up..
I started to panic, his body felt hot but he was clearly shivering underneath the blankets. "Light, wake up. I need to wipe you with a cold towel" I gently nudged him, doing my absolute best to calm my nerves.
"Mmm" Light struggled to move, his eyes fluttering open as it adjusts to the light through the window panels. "y/n..?" He licked his lips, trying to tend to its dryness as he trembled from the cold.
"what happened? You were completely fine yesterday so why do you have a fever this high right now?" I worriedly removed his sweater, guiding his upper body to sit up straight. "Do you have any towels or cloth lying around?"
"Yeah, by the sink" He pointed at the small restroom installed at the corner of the warehouse. I quickly drenched the white towel with cold water and wrung the excess water on the sink. "This must be due to your gunshot wound. I haven't been been paying much attention to it. Do you feel it opening up again or any pain?"
"Yeah, it stings sometimes but I didn't think much of it. Now, my head is spinning and I feel really cold" He weakly responded. "Sorry for worrying you again, it must really stress you out to see me like this" He attempted a light chuckle.
"Of course I'm worried but it's not your fault, as your nurse, I should've been more attentive to your condition" I sighed, rubbing his skin with the damp cloth. "Look, it's really not safe for you to stay here, especially in this situation. I'm about to suggest something that won't interrupt your plans and at the same time, I'll be able to manage your health better"
"Are you saying-"
"stay in my apartment for the time being. no one in the hospital knows where I live so it's definitely safer for you in there"
I've thought about this before suggesting it.. letting Light in my living quarters meant more than giving him a place to stay. It would mean getting involved with everything Light wishes to do, whether it's good or evil.
The second Light steps into my home, I'll become his partner in crime and there was no turning back, certainly not from him.
