"No."

"Please? Just to test it out?" Sen prodded.

"No."

"We'll give it right back!" Connor insisted.

"No."

"We won't shoot anybody!" Travis pleaded.

Hephaestus's hair started smoking. "I said, no."

"Poo!" Sen moaned as she fell to the floor.

"Give it to 'em." Ares said as he walked over. "I wanna see what they're made of."

Hephaestus looked at his brother in disbelief. "Excuse me? Children of Hermes are notorious for some of the most terrible 'accidents' in history!"

"Pfft, literally name one."

Hephaestus began rattling them off. "In Chernobyl, a game of tag between twin girls went wrong! In the Brescia explosion, they baited a son of Zeus into using his powers! A boy was toying around on the Mikasa in Japan, a girl input the wrong numbers in San Juan de Dios-"

"Ugh, shut up!" Ares complained. Hephaestus barked something in Ancient Greek and hobbled off. Ares looked at the three demigods curiously. Connor and Travis looked a little nervous, but Sen had her arms crossed and waited patiently.

Ares handed each demigod a rifle. "Go nuts."

Sen was waiting Percy at the elevator, a rifle slung across her torso. "Hey!" She paused when she saw him dusting pink stuff off of his body. "Wow. Gender reveal gone wrong?"

"Long story." Percy said, smiling softly. Together, the demigods made their way down to the street level. Neither of them said a word. The music was awful- Neil Diamond or something. Sen glanced at Percy, remembering how he looked at her and rejected immortality, and a smile crossed her face.

When the demigods got into the lobby, Sen found Percy's mother and Paul arguing with the bald security guy, who'd returned to his post.

"I'm telling you," Sally yelled. "we have to go up! My son-" Then she saw the demigods and her eyes widened. "Percy!"

She hugged the breath right out of Percy. Sen looked at Paul and smiled.

Rifle? He mouthed.

Ares! Sen replied.

Sally gave Sen a hug and pulled away. "We saw the building lit up blue." she said. "But then you didn't come down. You went up hours ago!"

"She was getting a bit anxious." Paul said dryly.

"I'm all right." Percy promised. "Everything's okay now."

Sen bounced up excitedly. "Paul, your swordwork was awesome! And Sally, the shotgun?!"

Paul shrugged. "It seemed like the thing to do. But Sen, is this really... I mean, this story about the six hundredth floor?"
