CHAPTER TWO
crenshaw

ೃ༄*ੈ✩ YASMINE SAT AT HER KITCHEN ISLAND AFTER SCHOOL, PHONE IN HAND.

Her thumb scrolled through her notifications, checking the comments on the Instagram selfie she had just posted. She was revealing as much skin as possible in the photo, as her peers expected. She was confident that if she hadn't, the interaction wouldn't have been as high.

Jordan was one male that left comments under the photo. He put a simple "🔥" and relief bloomed inside Yasmine like a flower. She was happy he didn't flirt with her. That would've made her uncomfortable because they were related.

The other part of herself felt uneasy since Jordan had never liked or commented on her photos before. Yasmine wouldn't lie and say she didn't enjoy being the center of attention because she did. That was the main reason she wore provocative clothing, but she didn't want her brother's attention. It was off-putting since Jordan was clearly into her, and she needed him to stop. It was illegal in many ways.

Yasmine knew he wouldn't stop until she gave him the truth: she was his sister. She wasn't sure how she'd do that without ruining her mother's life. Yasmine knew her father was a petty man who always wanted things to go his way. If she opened her mouth, Billy would undoubtedly retaliate.

Retaliate how? Yasmine didn't know, and didn't want to find out.

Although most of the people who commented on her post were guys, there were some females as well. Of course, they were being negative, telling her not to base her entire personality on the fact that she wore provocative clothing. Yasmine rolled her eyes and was ready to lock her phone when she received a new comment. This time it came from her sister.

Unlike the other Beverly girls, Olivia was complimenting her appearance. Yasmine reacted with a smile and thanked Olivia for her kind words before reminiscing about her day. She and Olivia stuck by each other after class, and even sat with each other at lunch. Yasmine loved Olivia's energy, which made her even angrier with their father. She wished Billy hadn't kept her from the Bakers because she and Olivia would've been inseparable.

While they were seated together at lunch, Yasmine couldn't help but ask Olivia where she had gone for three months. Olivia spilled the beans: she went down a horrible road and tried to drown it out with pills, so Billy and Laura freaked out and sent her to rehab for 90 days. Yasmine was relieved Olivia had received the help she needed, but she was also envious because it appeared Billy was capable of being a concerned father. He simply didn't care enough for Yasmine, and that revelation enraged her so much that it had taken everything she had not to reveal his dark truth to Olivia.
