Kai had spent the last while putting away his stuff before deciding he was too tired to do anymore.
It was late anyway so he just went to bed.
He got ready and laid down.
He had missed this room. It may not be his room at home and it was much smaller, but it felt so much more comfortable and homey and lived in.
He stared up at the canopy above him in thought as he he tried to sleep.
Skyler had made a good point earlier.
He really should tell Cole about his feelings. 
But he was so scared.
He didn't want Cole to be uncomfortable around him because he loves Cole and Cole doesn't love him back.
But he really does want an actual relationship with Cole. And he couldn't have that if never said anything.
He has trust in Skyler's judgement as well. And she seemed very sure Cole would love him back.
If she was so confident... Maybe he could try telling Cole.
He really hoped this didn't turn out horribly.
He would think more on it in the morning. Right now though he needs to sleep.
Feeling slightly better, he fell into a comfortable sleep.

When Cole got back to his and Kai's shared bedchambers that night he was played by concern.
He hasn't seen Kai since they got back to the castle. And even then they hardly spoke. 
He hadn't been able to go check on Kai throughout the day because of catching up on the duties he had missed while being gone as well as being informed of things that had happened in his absence.
And then Kai didn't show up for dinner, which usually meant he hadn't ended up eating lunch either, because unfortunately this wasn't the only time this had happened.
Kai had a tendency to just kind of... Not eat. He wasn't avoiding eating he just sort of forgot sometimes.
So Cole ended up reminding Kai to eat a lot. 
But it did help slightly when he saw Kai sleeping peacefully after he walked in the room.
It was uncommon for Kai to look so calm and peaceful. Especially more recently. For reasons Cole didn't really understand, Kai seemed more stressed out than usual.
Maybe in the morning Cole would try to figure out what was wrong and if he could help. But right now, he's very tired.
After getting ready and laying down next to Kai (with some space between them cause Cole doesn't want to cross any of Kai's boundaries by getting too close) Cole attempted to sleep.
However, he was quickly distracted by some kind of faint sweet smell coming off of Kai.
It wasn't his usual scent, that one was far from sweet, but it was familiar nonetheless.
It was an incredibly faint, barely there scent. But it was clear as day among Kai's usual smokey scent.
He had definitely smelt it before, but he couldn't for the life of him remember when or where.
Eh, he could ask Kai about it in the morning.

I hate this chapter. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's just so short. But I can't figure out what else I could do with it.
It's basically just filler and I hate that. Not to mention the writers black I got during writing this. But I swear, it gets better. Next chapter will be way better. I swear to it.
