By the time they finished their bottle of wine it was nearing ten in the evening. The three women looked at each other.
"I call the big guest room." Toni commented earning a groan from Jamie.
"Fine I'll take the other. You have fun with sleeping beauty over there." They we're like old women always in bed before midnight. Britt nodded before waving at the two waiting till they were gone to figure out what to do with Alex. The fingers that had threaded in his hair long ago began to gently move stirring him slightly.
"Alex...." Her words were soft before he adjusted. Slowly his eyes fluttered open before meeting hers. "Come on. Let's go upstairs. You're not sleeping down here." He shook his head.
"They've got the beds. I can just go home Britt." It was her turn to shake her head. She had all but refused to let him out of her sight on days he had treatment knowing just how sick he typically got on them. "I'll stay here then."
"You can come upstairs with me. We're both adults, you're still shivering like you've been left out in the cold and you need a good nights rest. Would you stop being so damn stubborn." His eyes met hers and she could tell he was not only reading her but thinking about it. Slowly and hesitantly he nodded finally giving in to her. "About time you stopped being so stubborn...." He rolled his eyes before she gently pat the back of his head. "Come on now. I'm not carrying you up there."
"Like you could." He said before he finally sat up. He pushed the hood that fell over his face off his head before running his hands through his hair and along his face. She could tell he was just trying to wake up enough to make it to the second level.
Britt carefully stood up before turning and watching as Alex did the same. What she wasn't ready for was for him to teeter and just about fall into her. As she caught him and steadied him she couldn't help but notice how dangerously close their lips were. They were still for a moment still trying to gather what was happening as they both felt each others breath along their skin. He was the first to carefully pull away. But Britt couldn't help but notice the hesitation in his action. It was almost like he didn't want to move.
"S-Sorry." His voice crack proved her theory. Her eyes met his before she shook her head.
"Don't be. Now come on." She said quietly. He nodded a soft smile on his lips before he followed her towards her room. On the way up Alex couldn't help but notice Britt kept looking back at him. While he knew it was more than likely just her checking to make sure he wouldn't fall again, he couldn't help but think there was another reason behind it.
He walked in as she shut the door once she knew Ripley was safe in the room as well. She walked closer noticing he was staring at the bed.
"It's not going to burn you." She commented earning a light chuckle from him.
"I know. I was just wondering which side you usually sleep on." When he looked at her he could see her turning slightly red.
"I don't really have a side I kinda sleep in the middle." He chuckled the smile on his lips growing as he shook his head.
"You sure I shouldn't sleep on the couch?" Just as he said it she could see him start to shiver. Their eyes met before she nodded.
"I'm sure. Just take the left side I'll try not to be a bed hog." He lightly laughed.
"I mean if you're keeping me warm I might not mind that." He could see her bite her lower lip and couldn't help but stare. When she noticed him staring she couldn't help the fact that she was bold for a moment.
"Trust me?" His eyebrow raised as he nodded. While she didn't need to ask, she just wanted the confirmation. Gently she took his hand, both of them feeling something different as she did. He followed her towards the bed before she slipped beneath the sheets. He watched her for a moment before following her actions. "You know I don't bite right." She commented noticing how he was hesitant about laying next to her. His eyes met hers and she could tell he didn't know what to do.
There was no hesitation in Britt's actions as she gently grabbed Alex's shirt pulling him into her. It was almost like she knew that his instincts were taking over as his arms carefully wound around her waist as hers did along his shoulders. When she moved to lay on her back bringing him along with her, she could feel him hesitate but that hesitation quickly passed. Gently he adjusted before one of his arms slid out from beneath her. His body moved so he was draped partially cross her as his head tucked into her neck. Her fingers carefully threaded in his hair as she felt his hand begin to run lightly along her side.
For the first time that night Britt felt Alex's shivering fully stop. His leg moved between hers before her lips ever so gently brushed along the top of his head.
"Night Alex." She said quietly. Alex's next move completely shocked her. His head tilted before she felt his lips along her cheek. His next words were coated with sleep and she couldn't tell if the action was done purposely but she couldn't help but think it was.
"Night Britt."
