Espen wakes up with a groan of discomfort, his vision blurry as grey begins to fill his head. He looks around with confusion, noting that he was in-fact in the palace dungeons.

He sits up, the grey, thin blanket falling off his frame and onto the floor. He glances to the small narrow window near his bed, his eyes widening when he hears the wind whipping harshly.

Espen makes a dash for the window, but grunts and groans as his arms are pulled back. He looks behind him and gasps softly as he sees his hands were bound behind him by a pair of long shackles.

He steps around them and angles his head towards the window. He gasps as he sees the fjord completely frozen, the entirety of his kingdom white as paper.

"Oh, no..what have..what have I done?" He mumbles shakily, staring at his own reflection with disgust.

He reels back as the door to the dungeon creeks open, Espen's eyes widening slightly as he watches Hans slowly make his way in, a lamp in his hand.

"Why did you bring me here?" Espen barks, a firm glare set on his face as Hans approaches him.

The prince crosses his arms, his breath visible in the air as he speaks. "I couldn't have just let them kill you."

"But I'm a danger to Arendelle. Get Anna, o-or (Y/N)!" Espen suggests, the mention of his friends name causing him to slowly glance at the chain around his neck.

His eyes widen as he sees it completely frosted over, the small, snowflake design in the middle barely visible, as if (Y/N) herself had been a second thought to the man this whole time.

"..neither of them have returned." Hans says slowly, causing Espen to jerk his head up with a gasp, he looks towards the window and bites his lip.

"If you would just stop the winter, bring back summer, please."

Espen looks down at Hans with a desperate look, his eyes welling with tears as he speaks. "Don't you see..? I can't." He feels his voice crack, but he ignores it.

Hans sighs in defeat, his shoulders slumping as he nods.

"You have to tell them to let me go!"

The prince stays silent for a moment before speaking. "I will do what I can." He says, his voice absent of any emotion or sympathy for the King.

And with that, Hans turns and leaves, leaving Espen to sigh shakily as he looks down with frightened eyes. He watches as the shackles quickly freeze over, causing them to become weak, and flimsy.

"No..not now."

...

Near the mountains, Sven huffs as he runs against the snow, his hooves leaving behind a trail as Olaf slides next to him.
