"So, nothing about Kira now huh? He doesn't even watch the news with you?"
"I don't know if he still watches it or not but it's not with me so-"
"..." Hara stared at me for almost thirty seconds. "What?" I asked, accompanied by a confused look.
"You.. you like him, don't you?" Her eyes widen, both hands on her mouth as she screams loudly, creating a slightly loud muffled sound.
"What?! What are you talking about, idiot. How could you even come up with that conclusion, he's my patient and I've only been helping him recover his memories so I don't see how you can even ask me that" I scoffed, not making eye contact.
"Oh my, you do! You actually do. You say lots of things whenever you try to lie your way through, I know that because we've been together for so long! I can't believe it. What are you going to do about t-
"do about what? I don't like him, okay? It's just possible that he makes me feel happy in a place that I loathe but it's nothing that requires serious thinking. Seriously, drop it before I drop you in the ocean."
"Alright, girl. But just so you know, I'm rooting for ya"
Tsk, how silly. Rooting for what exactly? Now I'm kinda hungry, I'll have my break outside for once.
...
"Jerk, took a lot of guts to show up here. Now I know why the birds suddenly stopped singing the moment you arrived" I stopped my tracks as I heard the sound of people arguing behind the wall. I peeked a little and spotted Doc Daiki and a man I've never seen before bickering right in the lobby. I found myself listening in on their conversation from afar despite my bubbling hunger.
"Poetic as usual, my little brother. You are such a cutiepie." little brother? That guy is Doc Daiki's older brother?
"gross. I feel violated with that last word you said"
"brothers?"
"ugh, stop. You're dead to me, alright? What do you want, If you could get out of here as much as possible, that'll be great."
"I just came to say hi, bro. Nothing else" The man had a grin on his face, not the kind you would like to see on someone, no. "You don't waste your time on such things, you're up to something, aren't you?" Doc Daiki responded, his brows were furrowed and eyes, filled with suspicion.
"Alright, fine. I'll leave. If my presence bothers you this much then I'll go, does that sound good?"
"Just go" Doc Daiki's tone was cold as if he wasn't conversing with a relative of his. It was obvious that they share a mysterious and bizarre history.
"What a rat, visiting my workplace after so many years.." Doc Daiki angrily mumbled to himself whilst walking away, not even bothering to watch his brother walk out of the hospital.
What could have happened between those two for them to talk to each other like that..? Well, not my business.. Off to lunch then.
I couldn't really focus on my fried chicken with a side of mashed potatoes. It's a weird but delicious combo which Hara hates. I wonder what could he have possibly done to have Doc Daiki hate him that much.
...
"Oh-, what are you doing here..?" I had just finished eating at the nearby cafeteria when all of a sudden, I spot a man in Light's room as I entered. It was Doc Daiki's brother who was supposed to leave a few minutes ago.
"Ah, I must've walked in the wrong room, forgive me. I'm Riku, I was looking for my mother who is hospitalized here" He explained as he slowly walked towards me to apologize.
"Please head to the registrar. Next time, don't walk into random hospital rooms that weren't instructed by the staff, thank you"
"Right, I'm so sorry. It really wasn't my intention to walk in someone else's room. I'll just head out now." He replied, closing the door behind him and walking away from Light's room.
That was certainly weird..
"What's weirder is that the noise didn't wake him up, huh. What a sleepyhead" I chuckled to myself as I watch Light peacefully sleep even after all the commotion.
Hm, the name panel attached to the end of his bed is missing.. did a nurse take it out?
"Mmm, Y/N? a-are you looking for something?" Light stretched his arms and rubbed his eyes. It was a cute view as he fixed his bed hair and let his eyes adjust to the light by blinking multiple times.
"Oh, sorry. Did I wake you? I'm just looking for your name board. It's weird that it's suddenly gone since none of the nurses took it."
"Are you looking for this?" Light handed the panel which had his patient information on it, he smiled softly and tilted his head. "Sorry, it fell earlier and I just read the name over and over 'till I fell asleep. I'm still not used to being called Light Yagami since I have only heard it several times"
"Ah, no problem, it's alright. Have you taken a liking to your name, though? 'cause I certainly have" I commented while I reattached the panel to the end of his bed.
Huh, there's no way for the board to fall because the edges of the frame are drilled securely. It could only be removed if it was.. actually taken by someone.
"It does have an interesting meaning, god of the night?" He chuckled. "Feels kind of weird, don't you think?"
"Well, it suits you. For me, at least" I lifted my head to answer though my mind was still focused on the panel. Did Doc Daiki's brother take it out? But what reason could he have to do such a thing? And how'd it end up in Light's hands? Maybe Light did take it out to read his name just like he told me but why would he lie that it fell on the ground?
"You think so?.. Okay, I trust anything you tell me, Y/N. I've been in your care for quite some time now. And it feels longer for me since I remember almost nothing" He gave me the smile he usually does, a smile that would light up a room and radiate warmth at the same time.
What a cutie, maybe I'm overreacting a bit.. was I really suspecting Light of doing something unnatural? He's just a normal guy whose memories got wiped, it's my duty to help him recover, I shouldn't be so skeptical over the tiniest things.
