The next day arrived faster than the kids would have thought. After the phone call with Isa, Lukas went home and the others got ready for bed that night. Then, school happened and they were home within a few hours again. Friday was an easy day with no homework as it was a minimum day, and the twins and Petra decided to chill by going out to the park with some ice cream in hand.

The autumn air rushed through the streets with a howling noise that filled the comfortable silence between the three. The grass was beginning to brown and fade at Emerald Park, making the ground crunch with every step they took. Neat piles of leaves were scattered on the lawn, raked up by the diligent crew of groundskeepers around them. It took all of the Jesses' might not to jump into them.

"Ah, shoot, my cone is dripping," mumbled Petra. "Can you grab the napkins?"

Jesse raised his free hand and pulled out some from the redhead's pockets. "Got it. Here." He extended the napkins to her and she nodded as she took them, wiping the hand holding her cone.

Jess took a big lick from her strawberry soft serve. "Just eat faster so it doesn't drip. Duh."

"I will fight you," said Petra, eliciting a smile from the twin sister.

"She's got a point," shrugged the boyfriend, who, in turn, drew a fake-out punch from the freckled girl.

"Whatever." Petra scoffed before throwing away her used napkins into a bin. "I thought it would be a nice thing to treat you guys –buuuuut, clearly, I was mistaken." She finally took a decent chunk from her ice cream cone, glaring at the twins who were smirking at her.

"But I'm your best pal. In fact, I'm even... your boyfriend. You can never be mistaken when it comes to treating your partner."

Jess scrunched her nose while Petra continuing glaring through her bright blush. The sister shook her head and then finished off her cone as fast as possible, saying, "I'm done with you, Jay. You are so cheesy and cringey. Had I eaten my ice cream slower, you would have turned my cone soggy from being forced to listen to all that."

"Yeah, yeah, says the person who's been hanging out with a certain someone a lot lately," he teased, shrugging exaggeratedly.

"Huh?" The green-eyed girl was genuinely confused and held up her hands in puzzlement. "Who are you talking about?"

"Lukas. I was gonna say 'isn't it obvious?' but clearly it wasn't..."

Jess shook her head and brushed off what her brother said with a dismissive wave of her mechanical arm. "No, he's a friend, bro. I don't know how you got that idea in your head."

Petra glanced over at Jesse before looking back at his sister. "Well, you have been with him a lot in the past month. If I didn't know you any better, I probably would have thought that too." She ate the last of her own cone before taking a cool stance next to Jess, dusting her hands off in the process. "You were the one who brought him to training, and you had all that drama not too long ago. Man, you even slapped him during the witherstorm stuff and then cried about it."

"To be fair, I had memories of him before and I didn't know that! Not my fault our parents wiped our brains twice."

Her brother hummed aloud upon hearing those words. "Speaking of, Jess, what are the memories? Of Lukas and whatever? You never really mentioned it to me before."

"Did I not? Wow, I guess I've just been so distracted after everything going on. Basically, I was really close friends with Lukas and Aiden, yes, that Aiden, when we were in preschool. Remember that picture we saw on his account?"
