the two sat across each other in a familiar booth where everything all began. they fidgeted with their fingers under the table, avoiding eye contact as the faint music and conversations of other parties became white noise. jisung felt more nervous sitting in front of minho than standing in front of a class full of people he couldn't even name.

no words were exchanged between each other, only speaking when a waiter came to their table to order what they did on their first date.

time ticked slowly.

"so," minho began. he talked like a follow up sentence would come out but nothing did.

their eyes were scattered on the table.

"..so," jisung continued. his dragged out word caused minho to look up at him, admiring his facial features and avoiding his eyes.

their heart beat in synced.

there was no reason for them to be suddenly so nervous and awkward at the moment; they shared deeper secrets and memories and yet they couldn't start a conversation.

their food came out before a sentence can be exchanged with each other. they both took a bite, convincing themselves itll put them at ease.

it somewhat did as they spoke at the same time, "so—-" they both chuckled as they started each other.

jisung calmed down first, "why is this so awkward?" he laughed as he covered his eyes with his hand.

"i don't know~" minho whined with laughter. he shook his body as if he was shaking off all the nerves that were hanging onto him.

"what are we?" minho asked. the question made him cringed. jisungs face turned sour as well, unable to accept that was a question that needed to be asked.

the boy shrugged his shoulders and giggled, "we're messy?" jisung responded. he looked up at minho, finally making eye contact with him. the two softly smiled at each other, the worries in their eyes were flushed out of their irises.

"maybe just a little, hm?" minho smiled at jisung. the tension melted away as they shared a small laugh with each other.

"you know, we came here to talk about everything, let's do it." jisung said assertively. they never seemed to grow tired of communicating and confronting problems with one another. they were both the cause of it and the only ones to solve it; there was no point in ignoring it in the end.

"okay." minho agreed, sitting up straight and clearing his throat.

"oookaayy," jisung replied in a singing manner. "so what are we— god that's such a gross question to ask!" he groaned.

with a jittery laugh, minho asked, "can i be your boyfriend?"

jisung couldn't hold back the large smile on his face. his cheeked flushed red and his eyes diverted back to the table that was now filled with plates of sushi spread across them. minho anxiously waited, watching jisung process the question.

"well," jisung began. minhos felt a sharp pain in his chest. he felt defeated once jisung didn't immediately answer his question in the beginning of his sentence.

he didn't know what he would do if jisung rejected him. he couldn't believe he could reject him. it wasn't possible jisung could reject him.

"jisung, don't do this to me." minho spoke again, trying to come off as a light hearted joke, forcing out a chuckle as jisung took his sweet time to think of how to structure his response.

"do you want to be? think about it— i'm so unorganized with my feelings and... i can barely be confrontational—" jisung was cut off by minho.

"that's what made me like you so much. you're you— as cheesy as that sounds. i don't care if we run into a few problems, we got through them, right?" he spoke.

"do you wanna be with me, too? i'm not perfect either— do you have enough patience to deal with me?" minho asked softly.

jisung nodded, smiling widely towards the boy with excitement. "i'm too deep into this now, i can't escape you." jisung sarcastically rolled his eyes, causing minho to throw a rolled up napkin across the table.

"i'm joking! you're insane if you think i don't wanna stay with you. i like you so much." jisung giggled. "has any of your past relationships been confirmed this weirdly?" jisung asked, minho shaking his head.

"do you wanna know a big secret?" minho whispered which caused jisung to nod. "you're my first boyfriend."

jisungs eyes widened, "WHAT?!" the volume of his voice grew louder with shock, making minho laugh at him as customers eyes shifted towards them.

"you're not serious!" jisung went to lower his voice into a whisper on the edge of it being considered one.

minho laughed again, "i've never officially had a boyfriend, jisung. you're my very first."

"and your last!" jisung pointed his index finger at him, making minho nod quickly.

the two kept their eyes on each others, their breathe finally at a steady pace. the swear in their hands dried and the soft smile on their face permanently stayed on display.

"this is nice." minho commented.

"it is. took us long enough, huh?" jisung chuckled.

"it was definitely something."

"it was fun, though. everything feels.. different."

minho failed to hold in a laugh, "dramatic much?"

jisung rolled his eyes with a smile, "i'm sorry i'm disappointed you didn't ask to be my boyfriend with a big bouquet of flowers on the beach while the sun set and a surprise band playing romantic music in the back of us. let me make it more romantic!"

minho face palmed himself as his laughter grew louder, "i think sushi is pretty romantic!"

"mhm, i guess." jisung continued sarcastically.

"hey! i promise i'll be the best boyfriend you've ever dreamed about having! you just have to earn it." minho argued lightly.

jisung opened his mouth in fake shock, "i have to EARN good treatment from you?"

"be a good boy and i'll give you what you want."

jisungs face flushed pink, "you can't say those things in public! that's so gross!" he freaked.

minho smirked, "you seem to like it."

the two wrapped everything up at the restaurant, leaving the place to head back to minhos car. they interlocked their hands together for the first time in a while, sharing butterflies in their stomach as if it was all new to them.

"i'm gonna tell everyone you're my boyfriend." jisung told minho as he started up the car.

"who's everyone? seungmin and felix?" minho teased, earning a slap on his arm from jisung.

"whatever! is it okay, though?" jisung asked, minho nodding.

"i don't think they'll be surprised." minho stated with jisung agreeing.

"do you wanna stay at my place for a while?" jisung immediately changing the topic. minho glanced at him in the passenger seat with a smirk on his face. his hand took jisungs in his and kept it in jisungs lap.

"you must want your prize now, hm?" minho flirted, the two knowing what he meant.
