SEN

Nobody was very anxious to travel that night. Grover and Percy crashed on the leather couches in Geryon's living room. Tyson took Geryon's old bed, since it was massive and he was the biggest one around. Eurytion forged off to his own room with Orthus. Annabeth found a twin bed in a spare room and took to that one.

In the hallway, Sen stared at Nico.

"I'm sorry." She said softly.

Nico refused to look at her. "I don't care."

"Yes, you do." Sen said. "You can't lie to me."

Nico looked down. "Just... I need to be alone."

Sen nodded. "Okay. I'll just be..." She didn't even know where. She didn't really want to be alone. Nico just shrugged and went up to the attic. Maybe he'd find some cool weapons to toy around with. Maybe it was high enough up that nobody would hear him crying.

Sen looked back down the hallway. Everyone's lights were off. She could hear Tyson snoring through the door. Dim blue light from the TV peeked from the corner of the living room. The volume was so low, Sen could barely even hear it.

She thought for a minute. She didn't exactly know of another comfortable place in the house to sleep. She could crawl into bed with Annabeth, of course, but that'd be a tight fit, and in the case of nightmares, Sen didn't want that. Tyson thrashed a lot when he slept. All the space in the living room was taken up. Nico didn't want to see anyone, and Sen knew she had to respect that.

She walked into the bathroom and took in her appearance. She was covered in dirt, dust, and gunk from the Labyrinth. Her braids were messy and coming unraveled. Her roots were very, very greasy. She had bags under her eyes from the exhaustion. Her clothes were equally as bad.

She couldn't help it. She hopped in the shower and scrubbed herself clean. She always did hate being dirty. She remembered the euphoria she felt at her first shower in the Lotus Casino.

She kind of liked this shower. She didn't know whose soaps these were, but they were wonderful.

Once she was done, she changed into olive-colored shorts and an old blue flannel that fit her a little loosely. She tucked it into the shorts and walked with her bag out to the living room. She had a feeling she wouldn't be going to sleep any time soon.

She sat beside Grover, who was still awake. He looked pretty miserable, and slowly looked over at Sen as she brushed out her long hair.

"Is that Percy's shirt?"

Sen looked down at the flannel. "I don't know."

A total lie, of course. Percy had left it behind over the break. Sen had kept it around. It was soft, comfortable, and hid her fugly tattoo.

Grover looked back at the TV. It was the nature channel. He seemed entranced in a documentary about snails in Brazil. Sen finished brushing her hair, and began doing it back in two braids on her shoulders.

"You can sleep here, Sen." Grover moaned as he started snacking on a chopstick he found in the kitchen. "I can't."

Sen shook her head. She felt sick to her stomach. "I can't either. I'm gonna go make some food. Do you want anything?"
