[Just this week, Kira has killed ten criminals who have committed serious crimes such as murder, arson and multiple cases of aggravated assault]

It's better to just turn the TV off, it's the same everyday.. Kira's still a huge deal around here, probably around the whole world. He still thinks killing criminals would bring justice to the world.. what a narcissist.

"Hey, Y/N, here's the full profile of the patient. I've read about it and yikes, he suffered a real bad one, hm" My best friend whispered as she holds on to my arm like we were two high schoolers.

"Oh, thanks, Hara. It's cute that you still gossip about the patients every single day"

"What other coping mechanism can I have in this environment, Y/N? Obviously, it's the only choice, now go to the athletic and academically smart guy who lost his memories, a shame, if you ask me" She lightly pushed me with a little smile.

That weirdo.. Hara's been my friend for years, unlike me, she actually looks forward to working here.

"Sir Light? Hi, I'm Y/N and I'm your nurse in charge" I walked into his room and gave him a  soft smile. He looked pale and absolutely clueless, it took him a second to respond but he eventually greeted me as well.

"Oh, hello..sorry, it's still unusual for me to hear my name since I've only heard it a few times, just here in my hospital room " He looked down on his hands, fiddling on his lap.

"Yes, I'm sure the doctors have explained that you-

"lost my memories, yes. I don't remember a single thing that happened to me after the age of 15 and I don't recall any of the skills or lessons that I learned. It's almost like I've been reborn"

Hm, he's sharper than most of my former amnesiac patients. I guess he's not just academically smart?

"In a nutshell, you were in a horrible accident which led to you developing retrograde amnesia. Although, there are few common ways we can do to help you regain your memories little by little though it is not guaranteed" I explained with genuineness and a bit of pity.

"That really sucks to hear.. but you don't have to pity me that much, you know"

I flinched, how'd he know?

"Ah, if you're wondering how I knew, anyone could tell if they saw the look in your eyes, as if you were staring at a puppy in the rain" He chuckled.

"So I'm sort of an open book, huh? good to know, I'll try being less transparent so you don't easily read into my emotions next time" I playfully responded. In turn, he smiled but it quickly faded away. It must still be hard to deal with all this information and still know nothing about yourself or the situation you're in.

"It's been weeks but the doctors haven't shared how I got into this accident in the first place, maybe you can tell me?"

Ah, the doctor prevented me from telling him until at least a month simply because of the possible reactions he may have to the truth. he's still unstable according to my supervisors, though he looks perfectly fine to me.

"Are you willing to wait for a few more days to learn about it? The doc is just worried that you're still not in a great mental state to know a bit about your past. It could trigger a lot of things"

"In the 20 minutes of our interaction, do you still believe your supervising doctors that I'm not mentally strong enough to handle a little bit of a story? I'm a grown man, plus, I've been here for almost a month, anyway. Isn't the truth going to help me recover my memories even just a little bit and possibly cure my amnesia?" He looked at me with a captivating look. It was the eyes of a person you wouldn't want to look away from.

He's technically right, the way he's trying to convince me really is entrancing.

"You almost convinced me there, if it wouldn't affect my job as a nurse, I would've told you the second you asked. Better luck next time, sir Light"  I smiled, gently patting his arm as he pouted and laid back down.

There is absolutely no way I can tell him until he's ready. He went through some difficult things. Just imagine being a genius in every subject and good in sports too. A son of a police officer who is just great at most things then losing it all after being shot in the shoulder and falling from a two-story building. Even the janitors were surprised when he opened his eyes after surviving everything thrown at him.

How could he hear this and stay sane? I just know I wouldn't If I was in his shoes.
