Another chapter for you. Sorry it's a bit late. I wanted to post it earlier today but work was exhausting, I needed to do me weekly shopping so I had food for the week and technology was being fussy. Comment and or vote and let me know your thoughts and enjoy.
Free settled down on the couch next to Silas. Jin put the device in his hand down on the table next to what Free assumed was Naoki's laptop. He hit play.
"Katana you're distraught. What's wrong?
"Are you recording right now? I have a warning for you"
"Yes I'm recording our conversation."
"Who's he?"
"His name is Free. He came to check on us."
"Jin seriously."
"Yes Free seriously," Naoki said before turning his attention back to the recorder.
"Ghosts exist Free. Katana says he has a warning for us. Be quiet before you tick him off with your non believing ways."
"He doesn't believe we exist? Why's he even here then. Not that it matters to me. I really don't care if he believes in us or not. Anyway one of those criminal guys from outside got in several minutes ago. He must have picked the lock or something. Anyway he looked around and tested the door leading to the rest of the house to see if it was locked then left the same way he came in."
"You're sure?"
"Yeah."
"Okay we'll have to stop that from happening again somehow. I'll alert the others when we go back up. We'll return in a bit with a strategy."
"That's it. I came up hear right after to report what Katana had told me. He was serious and seemed a bit sacred. On top of that Free noticed the inside lock was disengaged so that supports Katana's claim someone had managed to get in."
"There has to be something we can do to prevent whoever it was from getting in again. A trap or something," Naoki mused.
"I should have asked Katana which one got in," Jin realized.
"It's fine Jin," Naoki told his friend. "We don't really need to know which one it was to deal with the problem we just needed to know one of them did get in. Now we know we're not as secure as we thought we were and we need to change that. Be sure to thank Katana later when you set him loose from here."
"I will."
"What the hell," Free exclaimed in a shocked tone. "Who was that other voice? There was no one down there with us. How could there be another voice on that device... oh I get it now. Pre-recorded right? that makes sense. You know all about the murders even the victims names it would be easy to pre-record someone's voice and pass it off as the victim who was killed in the basement. Nice Jin. Real nice."
"I know why you'd think that but it's not pre-recorded," Clio said sounding a little bit angry at Free.
"Okay Free. You heard me talking down there. You heard me. How could I pre-record someone to pass of as a murder victim then add it to and my voice on the recording the way you heard it just now?" Jin asked in a level tone.
"There is no way of knowing if you were actually recording in the basement though. You could have just been holding the device in your hand. And having already known what was on it simply stated the exact words while we were down there," Free defended his believe that ghosts didn't exist.
