Albedo didn't really celebrate Windblume.

At least, that's what he tried to convince himself of.

He was sitting atop a tree sketching, while also absentmindedly watching Klee go fish-blasting in the frozen lake. It was cold, on Dragonspine.

His pen flew across the paper, looping and stroking like a lifeline.

He was sketching a person, a person he just couldn't get off his mind during the Windblume holiday.

Sucrose, his lab assistant.

His emotions, usually stoic enough, began to act up around her in the springtime.

So he more or less tried to ignore her, pretending that his feelings didn't exist. But what feelings? What emotion, exactly, did he feel?

This, he had yet to pinpoint. Of course, the alchemist had heard of "love" before.

Love was an emotion needed for humans to function. Familial love and companional love (friendship), he was quite familiar with.

Romantic love, or passionate love, however, was an emotion he regarded as dangerous.

Necessary to be avoided at all costs, the alchemist vowed to never, ever fall in love. But wasn't that what he was doing?

Needlessly pining after a girl who didn't share his feelings, festival after festival, and then burying his emotions deep inside him any other time? What was he doing.

I'm such a mess...

Albedo huffed, sinking back onto the tree. He rounded out her beautiful brown eyes, adding shading as he smudged out the pupil with his finger.

Pretty. He thought. Just like her.

"K-Klee! S-stop that!"

Albedo's ears perked up. He heard a flustered female voice, and he looked up, just barely peeking his head around the tree branch.

"Miss Sucrose, what are you doing here?"

The green haired girl dusted her navy blue dress off. "Have you seen Mister Albedo? I-I can't find him."

Albedo hid, scrambling behind the tree. His heart was beating a million miles a minute. Get a grip, Albedo.

Klee looked around. "He was over in that tree. I think he was sketching."

Albedo sighed. And I'm caught. He slid down the tree branch, making eye contact with the green haired girl.

Her goat-like ears perked up.

Adorable. He thought. "H-Hey Mister Albedo! I-I was wondering... um...

Albedo looked anywhere but her eyes. He knew he would blush if he looked her in the eyes.

"Would you like to... if you wanted to... go stargazing with me tonight? There's supposed to be some constellations out, and Dragonspine is supposed to be really clear."

Albedo looked up. He blushed, super red in the face. Control yourself Albedo, she's your colleague and your friend, and you two go stargazing all the time.

"Of course, Sucrose. Just do me a favor and drop the "Mister." Sucrose nodded. "S-sorry." She smiled.

Albedo had butterflies in his stomach. He smiled back.

"See you tonight?"

Sucrose nodded. "See you at the lab. Just after the sun sets."

Albedo started walking off, taking Klee with him. "Did you hear that, Klee? Bedtimes a little earlier tonight."
