We Hitch A Ride With Dead Confederates (Ares)

"I see," my mom said.

["There,"... like it]

"You are such a city boy," Thalia said.

"I grew up in Manhattan, of course I'm a city boy," I said.

["Come on,"... camouflaged shelter]

"Whoa, what is this place?" Reyna asked.

"It's a secret hideout from when we were on the run," Annabeth explained, gesturing to her, Thalia, and Luke.

[The inside... was jealous]

"Why did you feel jealous?" Annabeth asked.

"Because of all the time they got to spend with you," I said.

"And you say you weren't in denial," Clarisse grumbled.

"I wasn't!" I denied.

"Are you sure about that?" Piper asked.

"Yes!" I exclaimed.

"We'll see. From what I'm hearing, I'm more willing to believe Clarisse," Piper said.

["So..."... or something?"]

"You noticed my body language said I didn't want to talk, so what do you do? You send Tyson away," Annabeth muttered.

"I knew you needed to talk, but you wouldn't want to do so around Tyson," I muttered to her.

"You know me so well," she said.

["Convenience store?"... seeing Luke."]

"Seriously Percy?" Rachel asked.

"What?" I asked.

"You just said Annabeth didn't want to talk," she said.

"Around Tyson," I corrected.

"You didn't want me around?" Tyson asked.

"Not like that big guy. We just needed privacy for this particular conversation," I explained.

["It's not... his side?"]

"One of the things we bonded over was our grievances with our parents," Thalia explained, before turning to Luke. "However, that doesn't mean I'd join Kronos."

"I know that now," Luke sighed.

["He's wrong."... each other."]

"You aren't wrong. We fought a lot at first," Thalia told Annabeth.

"Don't remind us!" the ones who were at camp the following winter said.

"Wait, what happened?" Annabeth asked.

"You don't know?" Paul asked.

"No. I was... unavailable, and apparently they didn't think to tell me," Annabeth said.

"Sorry, after everything it slipped my mind. You'll find out in the next book," I said.

["Let's go.. decided otherwise]

"And yet, you still insisted I tell you about it," Annabeth said.

"My curiosity was piqued," I said.

"Curiosity killed the cat," Annabeth told me.

"But satisfaction brought him back," Leo countered.

"What?" Piper asked, confused.

"That's what my mom used to say," Leo said.

["So what...pastry box]

"Wait, what? Where did he get those?" my mom asked.

"You'll see," I said.
