Request – The Reader and Kayce spend the day cuddling with a huge rainstorm going on outside. Just pure fluff! Thank you!

Author's Note - hope it's fluffy enough :)

You heard the thunder roll across the valley, making you snuggle into Kayce more. You both were in bed still, the torrential downpour halting all the work for the day. Your naked body was tangled in the sheets as your hand moved across Kayce's chest.

By the way, sex with Kayce during a rainstorm was fantastic.

But now it was close to nine in the morning, and you knew you'd be hungry soon. You were surprised Kayce hadn't mentioned it, but he had been napping on and off this morning. Due to his job and life on the ranch, letting him sleep as much as he could was something you tried to honor so far this morning.

"You're staring," Kayce mumbled.

"I like looking at you," You giggled, pressing a sloppy kiss to his cheek. Another roll of thunder resonated throughout the room.

You turned over, the large widow to the right of the bed showing dark, grey clouds through the water droplets. You felt Kayce's arm wrap around you, dragging your back against his chest while his head rested over yours. His lips ghosted over your shoulder.

"M'sorry the work isn't getting done today," You sighed. "But I'm not sorry about this at all."

"Could do this forever," Kayce said against your skin.

You reached behind your head and held the back of his neck while his lips moved to your jaw. You felt Kayce's hand dip lower on your hips before you turned back around, kissing him deeply.

Later that morning

"We need to get up," You groaned, stretching back from Kayce's hold on you.

"Why?" Kayce sighed. "Where you need to go?"

"Nowhere," You giggled. "But I do need some food...or at least coffee."

You untangled yourself from Kayce, slowly getting out of your bed and looking for his shirt to pull over your body. Due to the rain the temperature was slightly cooler away from Kayce's warmth. You padded over to the door and looked back. Kayce had leaned over onto your side of the bed, his eyes sleepy while they watched you.

"I'll make you some coffee," You smiled at him.

Walking into the kitchen you started the coffee pot up and busied yourself with get two mugs ready. You couldn't remember the last time you had a quiet morning with Kayce. One of you always had somewhere to be, something to get done. Once the pot dinged you poured Kayce a cup before setting the pot back down.

You were about to walk back into the bedroom when Kayce emerged, dressed in boxers and a pullover. You smiled, handing him his cup.

"Thanks, baby," Kayce pressed a kiss to your forehead as he walked past you, over to the fireplace and started working on a small fire to warm things up.

You walked back into the kitchen and made yourself a cup. You passed by your phone and saw a few texts from Beth asking what you were doing and one from your sister who lived in Oregon. You'd answer them later, although knowing Beth there was already a snide comment about you being with her brother.

Kayce settled in on the couch, eyeing the fire to make sure it was strong enough to catch. You made your way over to him. Kayce opened his arm for you to sit right up next to him, pulling your feet up and leaning against him, being careful of both of your coffees.

"What do you want to do today?" You asked him, taking a sip of the hot liquid.

"Could just continue with what I did this morning," Kayce shrugged.

"What you did this morning?" You asked him, knowing full well the two of you had been in bed all morning long.

"You," Kayce winked, taking a sip of his coffee.

"You've had enough, Dutton," You rolled your eyes at Kayce.

"Never," Kayce winked at you, pulling you closer to him. "What do you want to do?"

"Can't do too much," You looked out the window. "It looks like it ain't gonna stop anytime soon."

"Good," Kayce finished his coffee and leaned forward, setting the mug on the table before pulling you back against him.

"Did you ever find out what happened to Emmitt Teaks missing cattle from the other day?" You asked.

"Yeah, there was a break I the fence," Kayce answered. "Found 'em almost to the river."

"That's good," You nodded. "I saw his wife Jessica at the co-op yesterday before the storm started. She looked a little better."

"She was Tate's teacher, right?" Kayce asked, pressing his lips to your temple.

"For second grade, yeah," You nodded, finishing your coffee. "I liked her, she was good with him."

"Mmm," Kayce took a deep breath.

"Tate's still coming tomorrow, right?" You looked over at Kayce.

"That's the plan," He ran his fingers through your hair. "Might have to go get him if this rain doesn't ease up."

"Good," You put your coffee mug next to Kayce's before turning and stretching out against Kayce, your arms holding onto him as you both laid out on the couch. "I miss him."

"He misses you," Kayce smiled.

"You too," You mumbled, tucking your head under Kayce's jaw. "That boy sure does idolize his daddy."

"For now," Kayce's hand rubbed up and down your back. "There'll be a day when he doesn't."

"Nah," You wiggled your nose against Kayce's neck. "You hung the moon to that boy."

Kayce squeezed you as another round of thunder filled the room, the rain on the window becoming more aggressive. You listened to Kayce's heartbeat for a few minutes, the rhythm comforting you along with his hands.

"I love you," Kayce whispered against your forehead.

"Love you," You snuggled back into him.

The two of you didn't leave the couch until your stomachs growled at you, begging for lunch. After a bite to eat, you both retired back to the couch and watched a few of Kayce's favorite movies. You were content with napping on Kayce while doing so.

The rain lessened up once it got close to supper time and after a nice meal you cooked, you and Kayce shared a bath together before crawling back into bed.

It had probably been the best day you'd had in a long time.
