chapter 34: (going back in)
Zane Peirce POV.I felt another warping sensation that was eerily familiar. It was a lot longer than I expected and it was almost pitch dark. Then there was a flash, brighter than the lights I’ve seen. I basically had to tightly cover my eyes before it was comfortable to see again.
I tried moving and thankfully I was able to. Looking around, I noticed the navy hue around me with small sparks of electricity. Am I in Jasper’s head?
Small clouds of fog began forming like a fast-coming hurricane. But then it stopped. Then it started showing colors, but as if it was static. It was a memory.
I watched in silence as I eyed the dim projection of trees in the cloud. I could hear rustling all around me, as if I was climbing the tree. Then I heard a thud.
--------
“Ow! What the hell?”
“Are you alright?”
“Dude, I just fell out of a tree. What do you think?”
-------------Wait, this was when we first met. Was Jasper dreaming it? I continued viewing the scenes around the fog. But then it grew dark. It was, as if, Jasper was hallucinating. It was terrible. I don’t know why he was thinking this gorily but the atmosphere just got worse. I began hearing, what I assumed, was his inner monologue.
“Great, now they know.” He said. “And they probably think you’re a freak. As if your life isn’t bad enough already.”
“What? No! They’re not like that.” A second voice replied.
Wait? A second voice? Why is there-
“Yes they are. Do you even know how many times this exact scenario happened before?” (ik this is confusing but bear with me)
It was as if, Jasper was fighting his own mind. Is this what’s happening right now, while he’s asleep?
“Yes, but I know these guys are different, especially Zane.”
“Sigh, as if. You wish, you naive motherf***er.”
“What? No! No, no, no!”
I gasped at what I had heard. Is that what Jasper thinks? Is that why he’s never told us? What happened before in his past? Was it that bad?
I began feeling another warping of my body, with my ears ringing like a bell and my skin stinging as if it were covered with acid. As if, I was in—a vortex.
My body made a thud as I landed on the hard floor. Quickly I got up but then hit my head on the table. Looking back on the portal, I saw it changing color.
“You should probably go back.” Corazon told me. “Nothing serious, but he is having another attack.”
“Thanks for the warning, gotta go.” I said as I dashed out of the room and went back to the transient house, via a portal.

As I exited, I noticed Luna was outside. Finally they were back.
“Come on, hurry.” I tell her before rushing inside and up the stairs to our room.
A lot of people were outside and I could hear banging, screaming and crying coming from inside. I practically had to push through the crowd to get to the door. Entering, I noticed a lot of knocked over items and something red.
My eyes came to Jasper and I saw he was about to faint. I immediately ran and managed to catch him before he hit the floor.
I closed the door and I could hear Luna shooing the people away. At least she know how to react.
Seeing blood on his hands and hair, I panic and check around his body. Luckily his head was fine, but his hands. From what I can tell, Jasper clenched his fists to the point where his nails dug into his palms and irregularly cut it. It wasn’t that deep but still we didn’t have a healer since Conal hasn’t returned and neither has Zac.
Jasper’s breathing was shallow and his brows were furrowing with a nervous expression on his face. His hands was sweating profusely while still bleeding.
After carrying him back on the bed, I go to the bathroom to get some bandages and stuff to clean out the wounds. The wall sconces in front of the sink glowed dimly but did so brightly enough for me to see through the cupboards.
Coming back to the room, I take a chair and sit next to his bed. Hesitantly I took his wrist and proceeded to clean the blood off his hands. I didn’t expect Jasper’s attacks to be this bad. And he’s been having them for more than a year without any help too.
I sigh before putting betadine on his hand and wrapping his palms carefully. Jasper was still sweating a lot but his breathing was normal again. Putting the back of my hand against his forehead, I check Jasper’s temperature in case he might have a fever.
After moving the chair to the table, I open a book and start reading.

Jasper Stone POV.
I jolted up as I woke in a sweat. I was panting heavily and my hands were shaking. The room was dark but the dim moonlight shone through the curtains. Eyeing to my right, I can tell Zane has his head on his arms on top of a book. He was asleep.
Flinching at a sharp pain in my palms, I noticed my hands wrapped in bandages. There were a few scarlet stains as well. I continued quickly breathing like I didn’t know how to stop.
Looking back at Zane, I just can’t help but admire his innocent face.
He looked beguiling with his sandy colored hair resting messily on his face. Zane’s gentle breathing and harmless demeanor is very different from what I’ve seen since we started adventuring.
I don’t even care anymore, I have to admit my gayness for this a**hat. I smiled before noticing Zane gazing back at me. He was awake. Gasping I fall back on the bed but then exhaled in relief.
“Are you alright? How’re you feeling?” Zane sat back up, almost in a panic.
“I’m fine, Zane.” I reply.
“Are you sure? You had another attack and you’re hurt.” He turned the chair to face me.
“I said I’m fine.”
“Whatever, heh.”
“What?” I ask
“You got that daydream look in your eyes. It looks really pretty.”
“What?” oh my goodness, he just said that.
“Yeah.”
“Hmm,” I smiled softly. “sorry.”
Zane didn’t answer. He just came closer and hugged me. It was long and comforting, like I knew he wasn’t gonna leave.
I didn’t even notice myself shedding tears at his act.** ** **
