Peacefulness flows in the wind this Wednesday night. The moon is seen behind cirrus clouds and all the girls are preparing for bed.
Divination was odd, Professor Trelawney kept lurking over me. She set a month's worth of homework in a dream diary. Meaning we write down every single dream we have which is impossible for me because I don't dream. Daphne thinks I wake up and forget all about my dream, but I doubt that. My favourite lesson from today was Astronomy, it was fascinating. Professor Sinistra had given us written work on Jupiter since it will come up on our exams. The class didn't finish the work so she set it as homework. I finished it during my free period.
Talking about homework, nothing has ever made Theo more disappointed than finding out that he actually has to do all the teachers' homework. Turns out, the self-writing quills aren't all that great, they make many mistakes and write inaccurate information. I laughed so hard reading his drafted essay on moonstones.
Hold on, moonstones.
Great, I completely forgot that Professor Snape didn't give us a week to finish his homework this time.
"Have any of you done Snape's essay?" I call out from my bed.
Because the four girls are geniuses, they forgot.
This is just such a brilliant back-to-school week.
I flip through my textbook on Potions. Moonstones are used in love potions and the Draught of Peace. But with so little information, no one is capable of writing a twelve-inch essay. Unless you waffle, which results in a dreadful grade as it has too much "unnecessary information". This textbook is useless. Why is there not enough information on moonstones?
"Wait! Oh I know I know! He could totally buy this excuse." Tracey clears her throat, "Sorry sir, I was doing my homework in the Great Hall and because it was morning, my brain wasn't functioning properly. One second ago I was eating my cereal and the next moment I was consuming my parchment. That is why can't give in my homework."
"Miss Davis, I'm astonished. I've never seen a brain smaller than Mr Longbottom's. Are you sure you're human? Or are you an unidentified breed?" Milly says in her best Snape voice.
Pansy adds, "Perhaps we should take you for testing."
Tracey throws a pillow at Milly as I pace around the room.
"Enough excuses, I am not landing myself an hour's detention." I rub my temple. "I've got an idea, the library must have something about moonstones."
"Darling, I know you go out in the morning but, it's late at night and you know that the Head boy and girl won't let you off." Daphne puts her eye mask on. "Accept it, we all are going to get detentions and that's okay because we've all got each other to comfort during that hour."
"Aww Daphne!" Tracey blows a kiss to her.
"Shut it you two." I shake my head, Pansy laughs. "First of all, I've got this." I point to my SilentSneak. "Second of all, the night doesn't scare me. Third of all, if Filch and Mrs Norris can't catch me then no one can. I've just got to make sure none of the portraits will yell or tell on me."
"Are you sure?" Milly looks at me as I slip my slippers on.
"Yes." I pick up my wand. "Lumos," I say before tapping my wrist to activate my SilentSneak.
The girls all thank me as I walk out and I make sure to shut the door behind me quietly.
Because it is September, it's still warm. Warm enough for me to be wearing a long silk black nightdress anyway. I am a bit stupid for not bringing a robe with me because if I hypothetically get caught then this would be nowhere near appropriate.
