What are your thoughts about life?

80 years is the life expectancy of a human lifespan according to several studies, but majority never had a chance to reach that age. It just shows how fragile a human life is. Life is sort like a wave. It's full of ups and down, but never consistent. The only thing that doesn't change is at the end of the day, you'll gonna die whether you like it or not. If that was the case,

Then what's the point of living if you're going to die anyways?

Have you ever questioned the meaning of our existence?

Once my clock set off, I woke up meeting a morning light, peeking through the curtains, and go downstairs to eat my breakfast. Squinting, I greet my parents with a yawn, brushing off the morning dust, and proceed accommodating a chair in the dining table, not bothered by their stare.

"Good morning....." I uttered but my mom retorted in response.

"Atleast wash your face first."

"Okay....."

Seriously, mom really knows how to annoy someone early morning. It's my usual daily routine. Wake up, eat breakfast, take a bath, go to school, and get scolded once I return. My life repeats in a cycle. Nothing interesting but I'm more than satisfied.

Wiping my face with a towel, I looked at the mirror and saw a beautiful lady with a dark taupe, tan beige, light brown hair, and has a pair of chiffon pink eyes, wearing a solemn face. Her bright smooth delicate skin is exquisite, emphasizing her cuteness even more. Yes, that person is none other than me. It might be a blessing for others, but I think it's more like a curse. Not that I care about it anymore though.

As I spread the peanut butter between two slices of bread, I began munching my food like I usually do. Normally, mom would make breakfast for us, but right now, she had business needed to take care and so she obliged to leave early. Although it's pain in the ass, I guess she doesn't have enough time to prepare our bento box and so I do mine on my own. As for my dad, he's currently immersed watching a morning news while sipping through his hot cup of coffee. He got a stern face, emitting this intimidating aura. Well, I got used to it so it doesn't bother me anymore.

"Morning news. Two married couple in Kagayaku residence was found dead yesterday."

Kagayaku? Sounds familiar to me. Where did I heard that surname again?

"Authorities are still finding the culprit behind this brutal incident. Locals near the said location are advised to be mindful in their surroundings. They are told to report such things in the Police Department if ever they notice anything peculiar in the vicinity."

The place of incident is quite near to us. I would love to go in the crime scene, but my dad will definitely won't let me to do so. Being a detective is his occupation. I look up to him since I was a child. He always getting praised and raking lots of awards despite being so humble. For me, he is my role model in life and I want to be like him someday, but dad isn't happy about it. I know being a detective comes with danger, but I'm not that naive to be ignorant.

After brewing my own coffee, I took a sip. With the mix of bitter and sweet flavors, working delightfully together, the acidity lingers to balance the overall savor. While I was enjoying my drink, dad suddenly spoke up.

"Shuri, be careful out there. It seems like crimes are increasing near our place lately. You're a lady and you'll reach your legal age soon so you must stay vigilant."

I'm not a kid anymore, you know!? I don't need your advice old man, is what I wanted to say, but as their obedient daughter, I replied politely.

".....Yes."
