As soon as Present Mic said go each of the examinees rocketed off the starting line in a flurry of motion and quirks. You felt your muscles tense before your quirk enhanced strength pushed you far ahead of the crowd in a burst of super speed. Easily stealing the lead you settled yourself in a more consistent running stance and began barreling down the course, leaving most of your fellow testers far in the dust.
But like a woman possessed, or perhaps just properly motivated, Setsuna eked her way into second place as she furiously ran to try and overtake you. A quick check over your shoulder showed her stealing ahead of the pack as her eyes glued onto you like a hungry predator. Smirking you shot her a playful wink over the shoulder before turning back around to face the first bats or along the course.
Ahead of you in the distance you could see a tall climbing wall blocking the trail. Smirking you decided to show off a bit for Setsuna, so as you came upon it you crouched down and leaped with all your super strength, the force of your jump easily carrying well over the barrier like it was nothing. On the other side you used the float aspect of your quirk to slow your fall, costing you some speed in favor of not suffering a harsh landing.
Seeing you use your quirk to clear the first obstacle, Setsuna grit her teeth and let her arm shoot forward away from her body. Her detached limb gripped the top of the wall and she used the telekinetic connection between her body parts to help reel herself up as she climbed.
Several moments later you came up on the second big hurdle that required thought. You had zoomed past several of the mundane obstacles such as rope climbs, jumping posts, and other such things. But now you had to slow yourself as before you opened a wide trench in the ground, a veritable canyon had been dug across the trail with only small pillars, clothes lines, and monkey bars, serving as a means to traverse.
Making a quick second decision you began hopping along the crumbly rock pillars, skipping from one to the next with graceful movements. Unfortunately you underestimated how sturdy they were so when your foot landed to close to the side of one it crumbled completely. Thrown off balance you tossed down into the hole, and above you Setsuna cheekily smirked down at you as she divided her body up to put less weight on each pillar while she jumped across.
Glaring you used your quirk to slow your fall enough for you to jam your fingers into the solid rock, claws extending from your fingertips as you began digging out your own climbing holds. It took several minutes to get back into the race, and by that time the bulk of the examinees had caught up to you and Setsuna had gotten quite the head start. But the moment you were back on solid ground you retook your running stance and rapidly began making u other difference.
You whirled past several more un-noteworthy obstacles, and quickly began catching up to Setsuna on the home stretch. You were surprised to see her slowly wading her way through a a long open patch of ground, her fingers detached from her hand and thumbing along the ground in front of her carefully before she took another step. Your confusion was soon answered as one of her floating fingers pushed to hard against a patch of ground, and a massive airbag burst inflated and burst from the ground like a landline.
Y/n: Did they really make a damn minefield?
Still you could handle this. Narrowing your eyes, you let your vision switch over into thermo reception. The world before you shifted color palettes as your eyes began seeing the heat signatures of everyone and more importantly everything around you. The saw countless randomly spaced slight variations in the temperature along the ground, and as you saw Setsuna trigger another airbag mine your theory was confirmed. Each of those spaces was a temperature difference created by the mines, the hotter air in the airbags giving away their positions.
Setsuna watched in awe as you effortlessly ran through the minefield as if it wasn't even there, even though you were actually taking very careful note to never step too close to one of the airbag mines. With the advantage of knowing where they were, you could keep going at almost full superhuman speed and leave Setsuna in your dust.
