Chapter 4

                                    

                                          
"Oh great! Now what are we gonna do?", Selena asked sitting down on the roof.
"And what I had to go through to get up here", Helen frowned.
"Wanna call 911 again or go downstairs?", I ask looking at the crashed helicopter.
"Calling 911 won't help, they didn't know the guy they send was infected", Selena pointed out.
"That and a zombie got in through the broken window", Helen said leaning over and looking down.
"And now we're stranded up here", Selena glared at me like it was my fault.
Well ok maybe it was my fault to make them come up here but at that moment I thought we were gonna be rescued. But the pilot was bit. But I'm glad he changed before we got on that thing, because if we were on it our options were to get bit or we would have died when it crashed or we could've jumped and died that way.
At least we were alive. 
"We can climb that tree down and get onto the wall and jump to that houses garden", I said pointing at the wall that was next to the tree.
"And then what Alexis! I'm sick of you telling us what to do!", Helen yelled glaring at me.
"If you don't want to then you guys can stay here, I'm leaving", I spoke and grabbed my backpack.
"Guys!", Selena yelled, "We can't fight now, we gotta do this together".
"Well try telling her that we can't stay here, it's dark and it's cold", I said crossing my arms across my chest, mainly in annoyance but also because of the coldness.
"Helen", Selena spoke, "She does have  point".
"Fine, you're right I'm beginning to feel cold too", she said standing up and grabbing her backpack.
"So now you can  take the lead and tell us what to do", I told Helen.
"What?".
"You said I also tell what to do, so go ahead, you can handle it right?".
"I don't know, let's just go along with my plan", I said smirking as Selena sighed.
I grabbed onto a tree branch and slowly lowered myself to the one below it. Just like I climbed up, I climbed down and finally reached the wall. I jumped down on to it and signalled Helen and Selena to come too.
Selena went next, climbing just like I did. When she got down next to me it was Helen's turn.
I could see that she was scared but I signalled her to come down faster. She shook her head but after about a minute or so she too grabbed onto the tree and started to climb down. Once she made it to the wall I spoke.
"So we jump down from here and let's spend the night there", I said pointing to the house on out left.
I jumped down from the wall which wasn't too high and Helen and Selena followed my lead. We walked up to the back door of the house and tried opening it but it was locked.
"Now what?", Helen asked, "Should we spend the night out here?".
"Not gonna happen", I answered her as I picked up quite a large rock and threw it at the window closest to the door. 
Then I stuck my hand in through the broken window and opened the door from the inside.
"Oldest trick in the book", I said the smugness in my voice visible.
"Way to be modest", Selena said walking in.
Laughing I followed her in with Helen. We were in the kitchen and it looked similar to the one in the house we were in previously. 
"Let's go upstairs and find a bedroom, I'm so tired", Helen said.
I nodded and walked up the staircase near the front door.
Once I got to the second floor I opened the door to the first room and almost screamed in shock. Inside there was a girl and a boy around my age. The girl was hiding behind the guy and he had a gun pointed at me.
"Don't shoot", I said almost like I was commanding him even though he was the one with the gun.
"You human?", he asked.
"I won't be able to speak otherwise", I pointed out.
But he still had his gun pointed at me.
"Who are you with?".
"My friends, Selena and Helen", I answered taking a step into the room.
"And none of were bitten?".
"God no. We're totally fine and now can you put the gun down?".
"I really think they're fine Kai", the girl interrupted the guy, who I now know as Kai.
"You really sure Katie?", he asked the girl, Katie, and she nodded.
Kai lowered his gun and signaled us in to come in.
"So as you know I'm Kai, I'm 19 and she's Katie, 17 and she's my sister", Kai said and stuck out his hand for me to shake so I did just that.
"Alexis, 17", I introduced my self and shook Katie's hand and stood there while my friends introduced themselves too.
"So I'm surprised you survived this long out there and you're not...very smart", Kai said while Selena and Helen were talking to Katie.
"And what makes you think that?", I asked glaring at him.
"Or else why would you talk back to a person who has a gun?".
"I don't know, but at that moment a gun sounded better than zombies".
"True", he agreed.
"But where did you get it from?", I asked.
"A abandoned police car", he replied.
I was about to speak as a brick hit the bedroom window and the glass shattered sending pieces of glasses everywhere but mainly at me since I was standing right in front of the window. But the most unexpected thing happened at that moment, Kai threw himself in front of me his arms around me shielding me from the glass.
