Chapter 20-

Monday morning I woke up and decided to wear something pink; just so Justin would carry a nice hot pink purse all around school.

I decided to call my doctor to see if I could go without the air cast. I dialed her number quickly; growing impatient when she didn't pick up until the third ring.

“This is Dr. Freeman, what do you need?” her quiet polite voice spoke into the phone.

“Hi, this is Alexa; I just wanted to know when I can take off the air cast?” I pressed the phone down onto my shoulder, holding it there waiting for her to reply.

“Just a moment,” she said politely and then I heard typing on what I guess was a computer. I started to pick and play with my fingers getting bored, after a moment I switched the phone to my other ear; becoming bored. Finally I heard the typing stop and I breathed a sigh of relief.

“Alexa?” I stopped playing with my fingers once I heard Dr. Freeman talking.

     “Yes?”

“I think it'd be best if you keep the cast on for a extra day or two; and also no cheerleading for a few days also. I’m sorry if it ruins your plans.” I sighed and switched my phone to my other ear while walking over to my bathroom.

“No, it's fine I was planning on staying out of cheerleading for a while...” I let the sentence trail off. I moved the phone away from my ear and put it on speaker as I unbraided my hair.

There was a pause on the other line; then I heard Dr. Freeman clear her throat. I ran my fingers through my hair waiting for her to speak.

“If you don't me asking…why?” I bit my lip and looked in the mirror; trying to decide if I should tell her.

I sighed and gave up. “Well, it's because of this old...” I paused looking for a nice word to describe Aimee, I decided on friend. “...'friend' of mine, and it's just kind of complicated. She's the main reason I kind of messed up my ankle.” I started to remember the night I found her and Chase in bed together and I shook my head trying to forget about it as much as I could. A stray tear fell from my eye and I wiped it away quickly.

“Dr. Freeman, I got to go, bye.” I quickly hung up, and took a few calming deep breaths. I put all of those thoughts and feelings behind me as I ran the bath and went to get out clothes for school. I decided upon a pair of dark skinny jeans and a pink t-shirt. I walked back into the bathroom and quickly undressed turning off the water and stepping into the tub.

I couldn't wait to the “OK” to take off the air cast. I quickly washed my body and my hair before stepping out and drying off. I changed quickly and started to blow dry my hair. I heard a soft knock on my door and turned my blow dryer off before walking out.

“Yeah?” I opened my door and saw Jessica standing there. I was surprised to see her up so early and I think she noticed this, since she smiled at me.

“I think I have the flu; so I’m not going to school today, sorry Lexa.” I sighed and nodded. I couldn't help but feel the awkwardness in the air; so I looked away and back to my room.

“Okay Jess, I'll have to find a ride I guess, see you.” she nodded and turned around, walking off to her room. I closed my door and went back to my bathroom, I fluffed my hair with my fingers and finished drying it quickly.

I picked up my little android and found Justin's number quickly, I typed him a quick message to him.

Jessica's sick and I need a ride since I can't really use my ankle, do you think you could take me to school? -Alexa
