"Y/N stop fussing!" Kimiko ordered, delivering an especially harsh tug on her daughter's waist as she tightened the oversized bow. "Is it that difficult for you to just sit there and let me dress you!?" She hissed.

"Kinda," Y/N mumbled, wincing from the sharp pain in her side. "Ow! I wasn't being sarcastic! I can't stop fidgeting."

"Well, you'd do yourself well to learn before tonight." She snipped. "The entire thing is sitting while Arisa's colleagues drone on about his achievements. I'll be surprised if I can stay awake throughout the damm thing."

"Do you think we'll get to hear about Papa's adventures?" Though she kept her tone sly there was an excitement to it that she couldn't quite keep down, her Mother seemed to notice and opted to stay mute.

It was a rare treat to hear about her Father's achievements. Though she had been scolded for acting spoiled when complaining about her cottage life Y/N never meant to seem ungrateful, most would dream of having their daily activities consist of gardening fruits and vegetables and occasionally wandering around the fields...However, she couldn't deny a spark of excitement lacked in leading such a repetitive life and since Shota's relocation she had nobody to talk to, the days were noiseless unless Kimiko bothered to pay her attention, even then it was drunken rambling.

She supposed she was bratty for complaining but she couldn't say she was apologetic about it. Sometimes she wondered what it would be like to lead a more expected life of going to school and hanging out with friends, was it something she should be thankful for skipping or regretful for not pushing harder on after that day?

Nevertheless, this weekend had been the rare time she got to leave the village, more specifically her home in the woods, and she refused to waste it dwelling on things that could not be changed. While her Father insisted she spent her time in the hotel Y/N still adored what little she saw of Tokyo, being in the heart of the city even being stuck in a hotel didn't limit her entirely. The constant chatter from outside and flashing from the billboards kept her company and they had even gone out to dinner the other night.

Giving up completely on the puffy pink princess dress Kimiko took a sip of her wine, careful not to spill the crimson liquid on her satin gown. "This dress is horrid." Her Mother commented, after an hour of trying all the woman had done was tangle the bow into knots.

For once they agreed on something.

The fabric felt constricting and she had to tug at her neck constantly to avoid feeling uncomfortable."Why can't I wear something from home? I like how they feel more."

"Because for one night the world doesn't revolve around you, go and get yourself ready if you're going to be so difficult." Waving her daughter off she took a seat at the vanity table, playing with a stray strand of hair.

"Sorry, Mama." Guilt consumed her in an instant, she hadn't meant to be so rude about the dress, she truly hadn't. But every time she concentrated on her clothes long enough the more squirmish she seemed to turn. "I just-"

"I don't care!" Kimiko barked, her annoyance sparking from the fact she had messed up her lipstick. The woman's anger never directly correlated to her daughter, the little girl was more or less the easiest punching bag.

A silence settled over the two, Y/N excusing herself out of the bathroom and into the connected living area to numbly watch the television in an attempt to distract herself. Maybe she'd make herself sick so she didn't have to attend the event downstairs, it's not as if her presence would be a missed one seeing as her Father would be busy the entire night, fair considering the entire thing was for him, but being stuck with her mother the entire night sounded like a dreadful affair and the dress wasn't helping.
