THIRD POV
The rest of the day went by quickly for the Romanos. None of the children talked much to their parents or eldest brother still upset and angry about hiding such a huge secret from them. Even their parents didn't force them to talk knowing they needed their space. So the rest of the evening went by in silence.
The next day was Saturday, so they were all still at home. Everyone was sitting in uncomfortable silence on the dining table having breakfast. They were all waiting for Adam's call on the information they desperately wished for. As if on cue, Ales's phone started ringing. He picked up the call and placed it on speaker.
"I have sent you all the information I could find on the Smith family. Apparently the family consists of a couple and their daughter. But she is not their real daughter, what I mean is that she is adopted. They adopted that girl from an orphanage when she was just a month old. The mother's name is Amanda Smith and the father is Jack Smith. The girl's name is Evelyn Smith. They lived about 6 hours from here their whole life, and have just shifted here about a week ago due to Jack's new job." Adam informed.
Everyone stilled when they heard that she was adopted.
Their hopes went up.
"Can you find something about the girl they adopted? About how she came to be in the orphanage?" Valentino questioned.
"Oh hello Mr. Romano. I didn't know you were there too. But to answer your question, yes I did look into it and it turns out that the girl was found by one of the workers at the orphanage on the side of the road and not seeing any adult with her, they took her in thinking of her as abandoned." Adam said sympathy lacing his voice for the girl.
Valentino's heart shattered at the thought of his little girl laying alone on the side of the road without any adult there to protect her.
'She could have died and I wouldn't have been able to do anything.' he shuddered at the mere thought of something happening to her.
"Alright thanks Adam, I will talk to you later. I have something I have to do first." Ales cut the call before anyone could say anything else.
"It's her dad. I know it. We have to go get her. I don't want to stay away from her anymore." Ethan requested pleadingly.
"I know Ethan. Even I want my princess to come back to us and I can't wait anymore but we have to make sure she is really our princess. We can't just bring any girl in our home thinking of her as our Evelyn. For all we know this could really be a coincidence." Valentino said trying to make them understand the severity of the situation.
"But we know she is our sister for god's sake. Why don't you believe us? We don't need a DNA test to prove that. We know it." Ezra replied frustratingly.
"We believe you Ezra. But how do you know that Evelyn will believe you when you go up to her and tell her that she is your sister when she doesn't even know you? Do you think she will be ready to come here without any proof?" Valentino said sadly.
Ezra just let out a frustrated noise, and did not say anything further. Alessandro, who had gone to talk about the next moves, finally came back and told everyone that the Smith family was at the police station and they could also go there now to discuss the necessary steps which are required to be taken further.
"Why aren't we just kidnapping the people who are acting as her parents and getting her? Why the whole police thing?" Matteo asked confused.
"Because she has lived with them her whole life. They might not be her real parents but they have been taking care of her since she was a baby. So it is already going to be difficult for her to move away from the two people she has known her whole life, we don't want her to think that we hurt the people who are basically family to her." Ales explained.
