Chapter 06: Reaction (Re-written)

[Ayanokōji Kiyotaka POV]

「May 1st︱Morning︱Classroom (S)」

Today marked the beginning of a new month, and with it came the revelation of the school's true nature to all first-year students. However, along with this revelation came another aspect—the existence of an extra class, Class S.

If I were to be honest, I must admit that this kind of situation doesn't sit well with me. Unless I find a way to leave this school immediately, there's no escaping these circumstances.

So, what kind of situation am I exactly in? Well, you see, as someone with an introverted-like personality, I find myself being pushed out of my comfort zone.

I'm being forced to interact with people.

I understand that I may have been overreacting, but it's natural to feel a bit nervous when suddenly becoming the center of attention in a situation like this. I find myself standing in front of thirteen students, in a classroom that is supposed to be exclusively mine.

Their curious gazes make it evident that they are showing great interest in me. I can't quite comprehend why they would act this way, but I hope I don't look too bad today.

"Kukuku. So you're here all by yourself, huh?" said a man with magenta hair. His name is Ryūen Kakeru, a student from the first-year Class C.

Like everyone else, his gaze scanned the entire classroom. It was clear to the naked eye that there was only one seat in this room. Pretending to be ignorant would be futile.

"What can I say about this...? I lost a bet, so I have to deal with whoever comes into this room. Just this morning, they decided to hide their--" I trailed off, attempting to come up with the most random excuse possible, but before I could finish, I was interrupted.

"You shouldn't lie like that, Ayanokōji-kun," Tsukishiro Tokinari said with his usual smile, standing in the corner of the room, observing us quietly like a kind old man he is not.

Thank you very much, my beloved homeroom teacher.

"Ayanokōji, huh? If I'm not mistaken, you were the one who aced the entrance exam. Congratulations on your achievement, even if it was a bit late," Katsuragi Kōhei spoke up, his expression remaining unchanged. I could sense a certain level of respect from him, albeit limited.

"Thank you, I suppose," I responded, attempting to inject a hint of cheerfulness into my tone, but it came across as rather insipid.

"Hey, sensei, what do you mean by lying?" Ishizaki Daichi, still unaware of the situation, asked Tsukishiro Tokinari, seeking clarification.

"Don't ask stupid questions, Ishizaki. Just look at the whiteboard," Ryūen Kakeru sneered, directing his gaze towards the whiteboard.

Two sheets were attached to it—one displaying the class rankings, and the other revealing the test results.

Naturally, only my name appeared on the test results sheet, as I was the sole student in this class. Even without exceptional powers of observation, it should have been evident to everyone that I was completely friendless in this setting.

What a tragic existence I lead.

"Alone? This guy? Unbelievable. They must be joking, right?" Totsuka Yahiko remarked, his tone laced with disbelief.

Wow...Coming from a student in Class A, someone I have absolutely no clue what is so good about and can't fathom why they're considered on par with the rest, it's truly offensive. It's hard to believe such an ignorant person actually exists—well, I'm just kidding.
