Hyunjin P.O.V

The waves, glimmering under the moonlight broke themselves to meet the shore. The air smelled like a cup of hot coffee on a chilly evening. And my daughter's laughter as her feet played with the wet sand sounded like peace. The reason of her carefree laugh, which I only prayed for and dreamt of was real. It was all real.

Her appa came in our lives and completed us. Our family. How can someone be so...so Christopher.

Silly, fuzzy thoughts clouded my mind as I played with my daughter.

But suddenly the air filling my lungs became bitter and poisonous. The stars in the sky dulled their shine. Grey clouds covered the moon. Perhaps it was all in my head or perhaps the wind had truly stopped dancing in the atmosphere at the devil's arrival.

"Hyunjinah."

"Hyunjinah, what's wrong?
Do you want to run? Go ahead. Try.
Oops! Caught ya."

"No! Please let me go!"

"Aww stop whining my darling. Don't you know that Jang Kangho doesn't let a bitch escape his trap."

The vicious air seemed to have spread to my heart, clawing at my soul.

I turned back, wishing it was a wisp of breeze that tricked me and my name wasn't actually called. Not by...him.

But there he was, older yet still the same. Towering with his malice, his crooked smile that made me feel sick to my stomach. His eyes still burnt my dignity to ashes. The eyes, the smile, the sinister everything of a man I never wished to see again for as long as lived.

I had run away.
I had run away! How did he find me?

Putting all my thoughts aside my mind focused on what was the most important right now. I instantly pulled Yeji closer and hid her behind me.

He chuckled dryly watching me shudder in dread. My fear had always amused him.

Please. Please just go away!

I can't break in front of him. I can't.
But I can't stand upright any longer either.

My knees were almost on the verge giving up. The tears in my eyes starting to burn the skin underneath. I was about to fall, when someone stood shielding me from the hit.

Christopher.

I felt as if I could breath again.

I held Yeji even closer when she moved to stand in front of her appa and me. Chris introduced the man. The man I unwillingly already know all too well.

He was at our house last night?
He was there! Why?!
Just why did he have to show up again
When I am finally happy...When I finally have a family.

"...Jang Kango." Chris said.

That name...it would burn my tongue before I could say it outloud.

"Ajusshi can you take Yeji to the car?" I called out to the Mr. Park standing at a distance.

He did as I said. Chris thankfully didn't object and only told a confused little Yeji that her eomma and appa would be with her soon.

And as Yeji walked away with Mr. Park, that bastard took out a cigarrete and a lighter and began to smoke.

"Care for one?" He offered Chris the cigar packet.

"No. I quit. Having a child around, it would mean passive smoking for her." My husband replied, sounding irritated.
