Ch. 3 || Sister's Bond

Start from the beginning

On the other hand, Damien's walk was straight and collected, face scowled as always like he doesn't even want to be here, at least that's the only expression I've seen on him by now. Completely disinterested.

At Least he is present here. Points for that. But his presence made my body tense.

They stopped next to me. "How's she?" Dad questioned in his no-nonsense tone.

"No update yet. Just that she needs surgery." I answered, remembering nurse's words.

"Then what are you doing? You should have demanded an update." he said, annoyed.

Something burned in my chest.

"Oh, I'm sorry it's my fault that the doctors and nurses didn't stop the operation in the middle to give me an update because that is so important as compared to the actual surgery." I retorted.

Honestly, I knew this was not the right place to argue or sarcasm, but I am tired of taking the blame for the things I did not do or things I don't have any control over.

I was dying to know what's happening inside of that theatre too. And it wasn't like he ever cared for us.

"Do you have any idea what's really going on?" Dad asked, his face looked disappointed in me.

Always disappointed in me. Always.

"What do you mean?" My voice came out firm. I don't want him to know the hurt in my chest. I stood up from my seat.

He glanced at Damien who was looking down at something. I followed his gaze and saw an iPad in his hand.

"You might want to look at this." Damien's deep voice spoke as he gestured to me to have the iPad.

I'm so confused. What's this?

I held the iPad and saw CCTV footage of a lonely dark highway. I checked the time and it was around when Thia left from home, she had texted me before leaving.

My heart skipped a beat.

I saw Thia's car driving down the highway when a car came out of nowhere and crashed into her car so forcefully, her car flipped.

The food from the earlier event sloshed in my stomach. My hands clenched around the iPad. Tears threatened to spill from my eyes. I can't lose my control, I can't. Especially not in front of an audience.

I straightened and concentrated on the footage.

When the car was still upside down, a muscular man wearing a black hood got out of the car. I immediately recognised that he's the same man who stalked me and gave me those boxes the other day which his boss had sent, that's what he said.

He made it to Thia's side window and a few seconds later walked back to his car and ran off.

I felt the flames burning on my skin. My eyes are full of rage.

How dare he do that? How dare he hurt her? The way I want to rip this man's body apart is beyond imagination.

"It's not an accident, it was planned by Clark. He tried to kill Thia." Dad explained.

I was still looking at the blank screen. I was tempted to throw the iPad but Damien took it from my hand.

I shut my eyes close and let a drop of tear fall.

"Did he say anything?"

"No but -"

"I'm talking to Damien, dad"

If I want to get everything straight, I need to talk to a person who'll get straight to the point rather than shame me. I turned towards Damien.

He spoke, "He did not leave any message or hint but that doesn't mean he had nothing to say. Seeing your sister reaching here breathing, he probably just wanted to pass a warning. We don't know what his next move will be, people who choose to stay quiet are the real danger because without any hint, we're unaware of their moves and that means you have no time."
