Chapter 78: The Invaders from Outer Space

                                    

                                          

"You ready to spend some quality time together again?" Weiss asked.
"You bet!" Kirby happily smiled at his aunt.
Yang had decided to spend some quality sister time of her own with Ruby on Remnant, so she would be gone for a few days. In the meantime, Weiss had eagerly agreed to babysit Kirby. The aunt and nephew had decided to spend the day at Merry Magoland before getting dinner at Kawasaki's. In the years since NME's defeat, Kawasaki had become much more competent at cooking, not that Kirby ever disliked his food, of course. That being said, Weiss never got any better at her own cooking, it was so bad Kirby didn't even like it, though he wouldn't ever admit that to his aunt. She was already aware anyways. That night, Weiss tucked Kirby into bed and told him a bedtime story before he dozed off to sleep. She smiled at how adorable he was before kissing him atop his head. She then yawned and went to sleep as well. However, later that night, she awoke to the sound of frantic knocking on the door of the house.
"Excuse me, do you have any idea how late it is?! I have a nephew who's trying to sleep!" Weiss quietly yet angrily hissed as she opened the door.
However, to her surprise, she saw a small fairy with tears in her eyes.
"I'm really sorry, but I need to speak with Kirby! Something terrible has happened!" the fairy cried.
Seeing how upset the girl was, Weiss' expression softened as she agreed. Kirby was already awake by the commotion.
"Hey, you're a fairy from Floralia, right?" Kirby asked.
"Yes, my name is Ribbon. I was sent here by Queen Sectonia to warn you of an approaching danger," the fairy answered.
"Approaching danger?" Weiss asked, worried.
"Yes. She and King Taranza were stargazing together when they discovered an ominous spaceship approaching the planet. As it got closer to Floralia, it began to attack and mechanize the islands! Seeing as you have saved our world numerous of times, Queen Sectonia trusted that you could save everyone once again. It's only a matter of time before the spaceship lands on the surface of Dreamland, we must hurry!" Ribbon pleaded.
Kirby and Weiss' eyes widened at that.
"I have to go help them!" Kirby yelled.
"Hold on there, young man! I promised your mom that I'd make sure nothing bad happened to you, and I'd never forgive myself if I lost my adorable nephew. You and Ribbon stay at the house. I'll try to contact your mom and your other aunts for help. Besides, Meta Knight finished rebuilding Battleship Halberd after the Dreamstalk incident made him realize he might need it again. If it was able to destroy the Destroya ships then I'm sure it can stop whatever's coming too," Weiss stopped Kirby.
"But...I wanna help too..." Kirby looked down sadly.
"I know, and it's not like I've forgotten that you're very powerful, but I still want you to be safe, ok?" Weiss softly replied. "Besides, someone should protect Ribbon. Can you do that for me?"
"Ok, Aunt Weiss. I promise," Kirby smiled back.
Weiss then left to run towards the castle. However, as she did, she saw the round spaceship approaching Dreamland. Once she arrived at the castle, she saw that Dedede was frantically ordering the Waddle Dees to fire the cannons at it.
"Waddle Dees, keep blastin!" Waddle Doo ordered.
The spaceship then blasted at the castle in response.
"Hey! You wreckin my castle! Get lost ya extra terriers!" Dedede angrily yelled at the spaceship.
"I just hope they're not snail snatchers!" Escargoon cried out in fear.
