Daniella Baddock twirled a strand of her hair around her finger as she sat beside her best friend, Lauren Pritchard, and the other third year Slytherin girls. She was bored, plain and simple. The sad part was, it was only the first day of classes.

"Danny . . . Danny!"

Daniella blinked a few times as she turned to look at Lauren. "Hmm? What?"

Lauren just raised a brow. "Are you even listening?"

"No," Daniella stated as she turned back to her plate and began to eat her lunch.

"I was trying to ask you what you wanted to do on our first Hogsmeade visit," Lauren repeated.

Daniella scoffed. That was all anyone in her year was talking about today. "Who thinks that far ahead?" she mocked. "Besides, it's Hogsmeade. It's not a big deal."

Jennifer Benson looked at Daniella in surprise. "How are you not excited for a Hogsmeade visit? It's our first one!"

Daniella gave her a glare. "It's a village. It's not a big deal. I think being excited for a trip that lasts only a few hours, and is just down the street, is embarrassing. Reel yourself in, Jenna."

Jennifer blushed and looked down to her plate. Lauren just rolled her eyes. "What's got you in a mood?"

Daniella just ignored her question as she took a bite from her plate. But a hand coming to place itself on the table in the middle of their group caught all their attentions. Daniella let her eyes trail from the hand, up the arm, and to the face of its owner. And she stopped with a little surprise.

Jason Weasley was there, with a friendly and bright smile on his face as he looked at them. Jason was a fourth year, a year above them. He was known around school as one of the friendliest and kindest boys you could meet.

Daniella had known Jason all her life, as their parents were friends from school. While being a lot like his father in personality, he looked a lot like his mother. His brown hair fell just down to his eyes, which were a chocolate brown color. But for some reason . . . he looked cute today. While she was used to his smile, she couldn't help but notice the cute dimples in his cheeks. Or that the almost unnoticeable freckles on his cheeks were sort of adorable...

"Hello, ladies. Have you seen Michelle this morning?" he asked. Daniella scowled a little. Was . . . was his voice deeper than it was last year?

Lauren gave him a friendly smile in return. "Hey, Jason. I haven't seen Michelle since breakfast. Why?"

Jason sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. "Well I told Melody I'd keep an eye on her. We all know how . . . shy little Michelle could be."

Daniella normally would have rolled her eyes. Small Michelle Pucey was a first year in Slytherin after her Sorting last night. She was also probably the shiest girl you would ever know. She hardly spoke, blushed when spoken to, and constantly followed her older sister, Melody, around like a shadow.

"Why doesn't Melody do it?" Lauren inquired.

"Ah, you know her. She's already planning out a schedule to work on revising for her N.E.W.T.s this year," Jason laughed lightly. But then he stood up straight. "Well, I guess I'll keep looking. Have a nice lunch, girls." Then with another smile and a wave, he sauntered off further down the table.

Daniella watched him go, unable to keep herself from looking at him with a small scowl. And Lauren seemed to notice. "Danny? Something wrong?"

Daniella look at her. "Was Jason always so . . . cute?"

"Yeah!" Jennifer exclaimed with a giggle, the others following suit. "You never noticed that Jason was cute?"

"He's so dreamy," Crystal Snow said with a happy sigh. "He's one boy I wouldn't mind asking me to go to Hogsmeade with."
