Chapter ten. First date with a Bridgerton.

Start from the beginning

It took both of the Phillips girls an hour to get ready as the both of them chatted about recent gossip and what they thought of the Bridgerton family so far. The excitement could be felt through the air as both of the girls let out a few soft giggles a couple of times but as the seconds and minutes ticked by Amelia could feel the nerves beginning to show as she started to play with her fingers. There was a few times when Phoebe had to remind her younger sister that everything would be okay and there wasn't anything to worry about. Phoebe was the one that picked out the cream coloured dress with the floral lace pattern over the skirt, the silk and fabric felt smooth against Amelia's skin almost like a soft fluffy cloud. Phoebe was also the one that had put Amelia's hair into a loose bun letting some of the curls fall down, framing around Amelia's face.

''There, you look absolutely beautiful, sister just like a princess Benedict is the luckiest man in the whole wide world.'' Phoebe clapped her hands in excitement as she leaned back to admire the small little makeover that she had given her youngest sister. Phoebe had always been good when it came to fashion, beauty and knowing how to dress up for special occasions and seasons.

''I feel like a princess, thank you so much, Phoebe you have done a wonderful job. Have you ever thought about getting a job in that dress shop in town?'' Amelia asked with a smile on her face as slipped on her shoes and then looked over at her sister.

''Of course I have, I think about it every single day you already know that working with dresses and making my own has always been a dream of mine but with mother around that dream won't be coming true anytime soon... Anyway, look at the time we should probably get going.'' Phoebe let out a soft sigh, right then Amelia felt sorry for her sister but at the same time she understood completely because she was going through the same thing, not being able to go after their dreams and happiness because of the strict rules that their mother had always given them was sometimes heartbreaking.

''I'm sure someday the both of us will be able to break free and live out our dreams, you and James living happily with each other in Paris making dresses and me and Benedict being happy in the country side, we have to make them come true otherwise what is the point of love?'' Amelia whispered her question very quietly almost believing her words herself but deep down she knew that those dreams would never be coming true, they would alway be trapped in their mothers control like little puppets on a string.

Phoebe didn't reply to anything that her sister had just said, to be honest there really wasn't anything to say, the both of them knew the truth but there still had to be some hope for the two sisters, right? Amelia took a glance at herself in the mirror, this was the second time in her life that she had felt like a princess. Her sister always did an amazing job at making Amelia look and feel beautiful, she really did deserve to make her own dresses for every other woman to wear also. Gently Amelia wiped her hands against the dress, feeling the soft fabric slide against the palms of her hands and her fingers. She kept her in eyes on the mirror taking in all of the details and noticing that her sister had also gone very light on the makeup which was her favourite.

''Oh, just one last little thing and you should be all good to go.'' Phoebe exclaimed as she rushed round to the other side of the room where the dresser was. She came back a few seconds later holding something in her hand, when Phoebe started to spray something Amelia instantly knew that it was perfume by the floral scent, which always reminded her of a sweet smelling garden on a beautiful summers day.

''Right we better get you to those barns without you being detected, we are already a few minutes late and it's going to take us some time to navigate ourselves through this huge house.'' Excitedly Phoebe grabbed hold of Amelia's hand and dragged the youngest Phillips sister out of the room, making sure that Mrs Phillips was nowhere nearby.
