CHARLOTTE POV.
MAY 25, 2022.

"I'll never get used to this feeling," I said, shuffling around in my seat. I was currently sitting next to Mason on the private plane, heading to Monaco. I leaned my head against his shoulder and added on, "You must be exhausted. Your season wrapped up not three days ago, and here you are, heading to do more work."

"I mean, it's a sponsored trip. I just have to do some interviews, and I'm basically getting paid to watch the race."

"Still. Doesn't the spotlight get tiring or overwhelming sometimes?"

"Sometimes. But it's a small payoff in exchange for being able to do what I love. Football." He then wrapped his arm around my shoulder and said, "Phil and I have some PR stuff to do here and there, but it won't take too long."

I nodded. "I'll find a way to keep myself occupied. We are going to a F1 race after all. I don't think I'll be bored."

"I'm really glad you decided to come. Having you here beats being with a bunch of other dudes, you know," he said, referring to all the other football players that were also on this trip— Phil, Eric Dier, Matt Doherty, and Ruben Dias.

"Thank you for inviting me."

"If the cameras make you uncomfortable at any time, then just let me know, because then I can—"

Laughing, I replied, "Mase, it's fine. Stop worrying. I can handle myself. Besides, I've done a lot of PR stuff for my own company, and quite a lot of content creating with the England and Man City Youtube channels. I'll be fine."

"I know. I'm just worried because the paparazzi at these high-profile events can be a little brutal."

"Well, then I'll have you there with me, so I have nothing to worry about, right?" I asked, squeezing his hand a little."

"Yeah." But he sounded unsure.

"What's wrong?"

"No, it's fine."

"Seriously, Mase. What's wrong?" I shifted my body a little so that I could look at him directly, and I could tell that he was trying to avoid making eye contact with me. "I can tell that you're lying, you know."

He sighed and said, "I dunno. With all the stuff with Chloe that went down last week, I'm just worried that all this exposure to the paparazzi and the media won't be good. I mean, I didn't ever imagine that she would cause any trouble, but after hearing that she went to go find you, I'm just worried about you."

Smiling, I replied, "Thank you for worrying about me. But I'll be fine. What's the worst she can do to me?"

"If she ever contacts you again, you have to tell me, alright?"

"I will. I promise, okay? Now stop worrying. You're going to get frown lines on your forehead," I said playfully, pretending to flatten out his forehead. Changing the topic I added on, "I'm still not used to your buzz cut."

Touching his own head in response he replied, "Do you not like it?"

"I did like your longer hair better, to be honest. Not that your buzz cut looks bad. Your longer hair was giving Prince Charming, you know?" Patting his head with my hands I said, "I miss running my hands through your hair."

Laughing, he replied, "You know, when I first met you, I thought you were a shy and reserved kind of person. Now that I know you better, I realize that you're pretty bold and shameless." He was referring to the comment I had just made.

"What? It's true. Besides, your buzz cut looks a little too much like Phil's and it freaks me out a little."

"The England boys call Phil 'Eminem' because of his trim."
