Care?

Bruce brushed off the comment, and the feeling that came with it. Actually the feeling was the hardest thing to get rid of. It made his stomach flip and his heart beat twice as fast.

He scowled a little and packed up the books Vance had been using. Bruce shook his head as he looked around the different sections in the library, looking for the correct places. He ended up putting them in random places and then picking out the books he wanted.

As he left the library he saw Moose. He was still pissed about the whole 'letting Vance beat his ass' thing, but who cares. Bruce certainly didn't. As he walked home he looked around the streets.

He scanned the scenes he had seen millions of times before for anything new or interesting to keep his mind preoccupied. He waved to the girls that passed by, books in hand and giggling sweetly.

The warm sun shone down and warmed his tan skin, and the cool breeze combed its way through his hair and lightly kissed his skin. He looked down the street and saw his house, the driveway was empty.

He smiled and pulled the key out of his pocket as he got closer to the house. Once he stepped inside he smiled and exhaled greatly.

He did his chores swiftly and with little care. He was much different when he was by himself. He didn't walk so straight, instead he dragged his feet and kept his shoulders with loose posture. He didn't care about the little things when he was alone, in fact he hardly cared about anything when he was alone. He still cared about his perfect image, but why did he have to be perfect if nobody ever even saw him when he was alone? He was alone.

He played some music in his room until he heard the door open. He heard angry muttering, which meant his dad was home. He turned off the music and straighten his posture and brushed his shirt gently as he stepped down stairs to the laundry room.

His father saw him and regarded him with an annoyed grunt, which he was thankful for. He made his way upstairs and shut his door softly. He was tired. So very tired.
