RUN BOY RUN

"I swear to god if this ends up badly I'm placing you both in a permanent time pocket."

AFTER THE RATHER heartfelt moment between me and Five, we made our way back to his room. Klaus was already waiting inside, but the sounds of Vanya's footsteps nearing caused Five to push Klaus into his closet, the man yelping in surprise at the boy's actions.

Five stood staring out the window as I sat on the bed and levitated a pencil in the air in front of me.

"Five?" Vanya's faint calls could be heard around the house, the boy's expression unwavering with each call of his name.

Vanya soon made her way to Five's room, sighing as she saw Five at the window and me on the bed. I dropped the pencil immediately.

"Oh, thank god." Vanya breathed, a relieved smile on her lips as she walked into the room. "I was worried sick about you."

Five turned, "Sorry we left without saying goodbye." They stared at one another for a moment before Vanya spoke again and Five made his way closer.

"No... I-I should be the one that should be sorry. Yeah I was- dismissive, and I-I guess I didn't know how to process what you were saying... and I still can't to be honest." I just sat and twiddled my thumbs, listening in on the conversation.

"Well, maybe you were right to be dismissive." Five huffed a laugh out of his nose, "maybe it wasn't real after all," he spoke as he turned "it felt real. But, well, like you said... the old man did say time travel could contaminate the mind." He let a defeated smile appear on his face.

I sat confused on the bed, he was surely lying to get Vanya off of his back right? That seemed like something he'd do.

"Yeah, maybe I'm not the right person for you to be talking to... look, I used to see someone. A therapist, I could give you her information." Vanya offered, her hands in her pockets and her eyebrows slightly scrunched looking quite concerned for the child looking adult in front of her.

"Thanks... I think I'm gonna get some rest. It's been a long time since I've had a good sleep." Five lied through his teeth, if he was silently dissing my mattresses I will throw him out of the window.

"Okay." Was the last thing the timid woman said before heading out of the room and making her way downstairs.

After a couple seconds, Klaus came crashing through the doors of the closet. "That's so... touching! All that stuff about family, dad, and time... wow!" He spoke sarcastically. Pretty normal for him.

"Would you shut up, she'll hear you!" Five seethed, an angered expression on his face. "I'm moist." Klaus wailed.

"I thought I told you to put on something professional." Five glared at him. I stood, making my way in front of Klaus.

"Oh my god you still have those leather pants- I told you to throw those away!" Klaus just stared down at his pants before looking to me, "These are my favourite pair! I couldn't just throw them away. And, Five, this is my nicest outfit."
