Your royal highness,
This is the 5th time we've rescheduled this meeting with Benjamin. I don't know how long he'll hold off from storming into your office himself. Will update your schedule and send it over in 5 minutes.
Noted on the coffee. I'll make sure to add some of your temper into it next time.
Your favorite assistant,
Emery Rivera
The only way to combat Harry's sarcasm is to match it.
Ben has been trying to meet with Harry regarding some extra expenses that need to be allotted to the marketing department. For what? I have no clue, and neither does Harry because he keeps pushing the meeting with Mr. Benjamin Dover.
I hit send, satisfied with the amount of sarcasm I added to the email before grabbing the iPad off the desk and making my way towards the elevator. I'd need to deliver the news to Ben personally since he never checks his emails, at least the ones I send him.
Unlike our floor, those fortunate enough to have personal offices in this department actually get walls. I offered a smile to those that worked in the open area, only the thin walls of their cubicles providing them with a sense of privacy.
"Make sure you guys grab some breakfast in the breakroom." I reminded everyone. Harry might be a grade A pain in the ass but he's decent enough to make sure that there's always breakfast in the breakroom. He pays for a company to deliver it every morning. I guess it's the least he can do for how hard he is on his employees.
I raised my fist, knocking on the wooden door of the office. The door swung open, and Ben stood there with a wide smile on his face once his eyes landed on mine. I did my best not to visibly grimace at the crooked smile.
"Emery! Always a pleasure to see you. Come on in." He opened the door wider for me to enter but I didn't move my feet. The last thing I wanted to do was be alone in any room with Ben. He is notorious for staring far too long at women, making all of us roll our eyes from his small talk and slightly offensive jokes.
"Hey, Ben... I actually only stopped by to say that Mr.Styles needs to reschedule your meeting to tomorrow." I said between my teeth, already knowing how he's going to react.
The smile on his face fell almost immediately, and he tilted his head off to the side, ready to spit out a spew of angry remarks. "And what reason does Mr.Styles have now?" He cocked his eyebrow. "I'm head of marketing. How long does he plan to push off my requests??"
I shrugged my shoulders, offering him a half-smile. I shifted on my feet, not really giving much attention to his little tantrum. Being Harry's assistant means having to deal with people being upset whenever he reschedules meetings or declines requests. I've grown used to the annoyance that's always mistargeted towards me.
"Unfortunately, I am only his assistant and have no control over him or his actions. Just one more day, you'll have your meeting tomorrow. I'm sure it'll be fine." I started to back away.
"It's always just one more day and then he keeps rescheduling me. You know what, I'm going to just go up to his office and demand his time." He huffed. I walked back towards the elevator before calling back over my shoulder.
"You won't if you value your job!" A part of me hoped he would. He was one bad decision away from getting fired, Harry has already been interviewing and looking for a replacement for Ben.
I heard him grunt in response before his door slammed closed, accepting defeat.
By the time I walked back into my office, Harry was nowhere to be seen. I moved around his schedule, emailing those that would have to move their meetings to adjust to Harry's needs before reviewing the final draft for this month's newsletter.
