6. Beware of the combat bunny

"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!"

It was late in the evening and quiet outside. The sun had already set long ago, and wafts of mist started to float in the quickly cooling air and were now enveloping the area. In a dark and narrow side street, inside a black car with tinted windows, a loud scream of rage that completely ruined the mysterious vibe of the scene resonated through the air and caused everything around them to shake violently. (Including the poor and mistreated vehicle)

Some windows at the nearby houses even vibrated dangerously in their frames while a few late passers-by winced strongly and turned their heads in shock. In the far distance, a cat was meowing angrily after falling from a trash bin.

The culprit of this disturbance was none other than Officer Wang Yi Bo. Of course. And right now, he was sitting on the driver's seat of his car and clenched his hands around the steering wheel, the fingernails busy with digging little half moons into the leather. If only it could, the car would cry in agony. (This poor, poor car. What kind of "things" did it have to witness already?)

"My genius mind is working perfectly fine, baby. You have to agree that my plan is waterproof and simply perfect."

The angry bird, no, chicken, no, Officer stared at his excitedly grinning and totally unfazed husband through infuriated eyes. He was still processing what this pestilence with a penchant for questionable behaviour had just told him.

Or better tried to tell him. After hearing his name and the "things" being mentioned in one sentence, he didn't bother to listen.

And his rage level was, mildly said, too high to be able to think clearly anyway, so the rest of Xiao Zhan's speech didn't even reach his ears.

And his voice of reason was still on vacation. Obviously.

Xiao Zhan smiled proudly at his fuming husband, studiously ignoring his little outburst. In fact, the result was better than he had initially expected. After calculating the past reactions of his baby to his, let's call it unconventional methods, and his rigid and not-so-fond-of-his-ideas personality, he was 97,54% sure that something hard and sharp would make its way in his direction.

But so far, there have been no suspicious movements after breaking down the exceptionally great news.

Which, in turn, meant, and this might be the only reasonable explanation, that he had done a damn good job last night in lifting his baby's mood level high enough to keep the executed violence reduced to a minimum.

He proved it again. He was such a mastermind…

"Genius mind, my ass! I am not agreeing to anything! I only heard the first sentence and already want to strangle you!"

"Jesusfuckingchrist! Goddammit Wang Yi Bo!"

On the back seat, Xue Yang exclaimed loudly, with his limbs sprawled to all sides, rolling his eyes and looking at his best friend with a mix of annoyance, frustration, and resignation.

He earned an angry stare through the rear mirror from the sulking Officer in response to his unsupportive best friend's behaviour.

Unbothered, Xue Yang poked his index finger inside his ear to properly check the functionality of his tormented eardrums and let out a grunt.

It could have been so easy… but no… There's always this one person who makes things difficult.

He side-eyed Jiyang and inwardly said goodbye to his plans for tonight, although he still prayed that Xiao Zhan would have an ace up his sleeves to save the day.
